  • Colorado resident Tadeusz Krupa won over $158,000 in the state's Cash 5 lottery between December 2007 and January 2009. Krupa and his immediate family members won jackpots of $1,000 or more a total of 21 times in the 13-month period. After learning of what seemed to be Krupa's too-good-to-be-true luck, lottery officials launched an investigation and concluded that there was no sign of criminal activity.FOX News: Colorado Lottery Investigates 21-Time Jackpot Winner (January 7, 2009)

Krupa stated that his system consists of searching for "winning numbers" on the Internet and then filling out lottery tickets by hand. Clerks from his local lottery outlet said that it is not unusual for Krupa to spend thousands of dollars per week on lottery tickets. After investigating Krupa and the store from which he bought the winning tickets, Colorado Lottery Deputy Director Tom Kitts said: "We know that this gentlemen didn't scam the system." According to Kitts: "It was just an unusual occurrence. My best guess is this gentlemen and his family probably play quite a bit... there's been an incredible streak of luck here as well."9NEWS.com: Too lucky?
