In Patches to Ashes, the player's objective is to destroy "Patch", an evil AI who has recently become self-aware. Patch controls all the warden bots in Tampeii and has also brainwashed a group of Brann guards, with the intent of assembling an army to attack the AFS.

To find Patch, you must travel across the Lava Fields in the Ruins of Tampeii on Abyss, and find the area called "Patch's Lair" (updated in the 1.6 Patch). In order to beat Patch, you must first survive his initial wave of attacks, and destroy the four firewalls protecting him. Once the firewalls have been taken down, you will have a 60 second window to defeat Patch. If you do not succeed in 60 seconds or less, Patch's defenses go back up and you will have to start over from scratch.
