Taboo is a board game where the object is to get your team members to guess a specific word on a card without using the five other related words listed on the card. You can say anything else not on the card, but you cannot make gestures. It is a team game, played with a timer, and includes a buzzer that is pressed when somebody goofs and says one of the "taboo" words. The word "taboo" means socially enforced ban or law against an action or thing. In the game, it means forbidden to say.
Taboo Strategy
- When guessing, keep throwing out words and ideas, there is no penalty for wrong guesses
- If you know the members of your team well, try referring to shared experiences to avoid saying the words on the cards
- If you don't know what the taboo word means, use the other words on the card to give you context
- If you are monitoring the clue giver, make sure they don't gesture or use any part of the taboo words
