    Consider your kitchen's capacity how much space do you have in your cupboards. If you often use the microwave and dishwasher remember to purchase tableware that compatible. Be sure that your purchases will fit in your microwave, dishwasher and cupboards.

    Plates, bowls and cups are commonly made of glass. Glass will break when dropped although there are some brands, like Corelle, that don't break as easily and come with a warranty. If you have children consider buying tableware of a more durable material, like plastic or wood.

    Some dinnerware is stoneware which is heavier and retains heat better so the food stays warm longer. Stoneware is not recommended for young children because of the weight.

    Plastic or paper disposable tableware is available. These can be convenient for clean up and won't break when dropped. Disposable tableware is not good for the environment because it increases the amount of waste produced by a household. They are easier to handle for young children.
