A table cloth is a decorative cloth covering for a dining table. It protects the wood of the table from food and liquid. While usually made of regular cloth, they can also be made out of lace and can also come with multiple layers.

Be sure and measure your table before purchasing. You want a table cloth that is at least five to 10 inches on each side of your table. The shape of the table cloth should match the shape of your table.
The material a table cloth is made from is the most important factor in its cost. If you have young children or if you want to a table cloth for everyday use consider one that will wash well, like cotton. If you want to go with a more luxurious material consider buying place mats to protect it. If you have young children buying place mats is probably a good idea anyway.
