T-Pain

T-Pain, short for Tallahassee Pain, is a Florida-based Hip-Hop and R&B singer and producer. Over the course of his career T-Pain has worked with a wide variety of artists including Mike Jones, Yung Joc, Akon, Trick Daddy, Rick Ross, R. Kelly, Bow Wow, Chris Brown, Kanye West, Usher and Britney Spears.

On February 23, 2009, it was announce T-Pain was forced to cancel a concert in Guyana after receiving death and kidnapping threats. It was later revealed the concert's promoters had filed a $5 million lawsuit against T-Pain over his canceled appearance.The Boom Box: Concert Promoter Sues T-Pain for $5 Million (March 26, 2009)

Background

T-Pain was signed to Akon's Konvict Muzik record label in 2004.Prior to releasing his debut album, Rappa Ternt Sanga, he was a member of the group Nappy Headz. To help create his signature singing style, T-Pain uses the auto tune effect which changes the pitch of his voice.

T-Pain won his first award for the Kanye West song "Good Life." His first single was "I'm Sprung", which was released in August, 2005, was off of his Rappa Ternt Sanga album. It followed in November. His second album, Epiphany, went platinum. His latest album, Thr33 Ringz, was released on November 11, 2008.
