  • Pro Career

Houshmandzadeh played college ball at the University of Oregon alongside Bengals teammate Chad Johnson. After a quiet rookie year, Houshmandzadeh became a productive receiver behind Chad Johnson. However, injuries would limit his playing time, causing him to miss most of the 2003 season with a hamstring injury.

Houshmandzadeh returned to form in 2005, becoming a regular starter. He and Chad Johnson were recognized as one of the top receiving duos in the league. Houshmandzadeh reached career highs in 2006 with 90 catches for 1,081 yards, and 9 touchdowns. Houshmandzadeh and Johnson were the first Bengals receivers to both record over 1,000 receiving yards in the same year.

Houshmandzadeh improved his stats even more in 2007. He tied with Wes Welker for most receptions and earned his first trip to the Pro Bowl.

In October of 2008, it was rumored that he may be traded to the San Francisco 49ers, however Bengals coach Marvin Lewis denied these claims.Dayton Daily News: Lewis dispels reports of a T.J. trade
