The lyrics of many their songs are politically driven. Chart topping hits of SOAD include "Chop Suey", "Aerials", and "B.Y.O.B".

The members of System of a Down are all of Armenian decent. The members include drummer, John Dolmayan, guitarist and songwriter Daron Malakian, bassist Shavo Odadjian and lead singer Serj Tankian. Former drummer Ontronik "Andy" Khachaturian left the band after a hand injury.Axis of Justice
System of a Down is part of a non-profit organization called Axis of Justice which was founded by Serj Tankian and the guitarist from Rage Against The Machine, Tom Morello. The group brings musicians and fans together to fight against various social injustices.-
