On July 7, 2009, the Sci-Fi Channel will be changing its name to SyFy, which is part of a re-branding campaign that will separate the channel from its competitors. July 7 Launch
The launch for the new channel is scheduled for July 7, 2009, and will coincide with the premiere of the new series Warehouse 13. The new show is a dramady set in the present day, and takes place in a government facility that stores supernatural objects and mysterious relics.
