American Idol season seven contestant Syesha Mercado performed the song "I Believe" on the April 8, 2008 episode of the hit televised singing competition. The song was originally performed and released by season three winner Fantasia Barrino. Before the song Mercado reflected on her time with former contestant Ramiele Malubay.

- Randy: "I have to give you credit again for taking on another tiger this week. I personally think Fantasia was one of the best singers to ever grace this stage. She had a special connection that I didn't find with you, but it was OK. Just OK."
