Actor, director and Academy Award winner Sydney Pollack died on May 26, 2008. He was 73.
The director of Tootsie, Three Days of the Condor and They Shoot Horses, Don't They? had been suffering from cancer.
His agent said Pollack died at his home in Pacific Palisades, CA, with his family at his side.

Obituary
Hollywood legend Sydney Pollack died on Monday, May 26, 2008, at 73.Pollack was diagnosed with cancer about nine months before his death and died surrounded by his family at his home in the Los Angeles community of Pacific Palisades.
Pollack was preceded in death by his son Steven Pollack, who died in a plane crash in 1993, and is survived by wife Claire Griswold, a brother, Bernie Pollack, two daughters, Rebecca and Rachel and six grandchildren.
