Sydney Hotels

Sydney is the capital of New South Wales and the largest city in Australia. Sydney is notorious for being Australia's most expensive city, as well as one of the top 25 most costly in the world. This high-priced living filters down to the lodging in the area, making even the more affordable rates a bit higher then the norm. Hostels and backpacker accommodations will always be the cheapest stay in the city.

Sydney offers an excellent variety of well-rated, luxury accommodations. With four hotels listed as Travel + Leisure 500 winners and six listed on the Condé Nast Traveler Gold List, the options seem endless. As of the 2008 surveys, the Park Hyatt Sydney is the best selection to splurge on, and the location can't be beat; right on Sydney Harbour with a view of the Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House. Included in the rates are 24-hour room service, access to the spa, fitness center and pool, in-room high-speed internet and a concierge service to help plan your stay.

While hostels are the most cost-effective way to stay in Sydney, it's not always the best option for a travelers needs. The Victoria Court Hotel offers guests a bed and breakfast-type place to stay, at a lower cost then most hotels in the area. The location is only minutes from the Sydney Opera House and in the center of many of the city's dining choices. Guest room are all decorated different and offer different features; some have fireplaces while others may have a balcony or "four-poster beds."
