  • How to Make a Sweet Potato Pie

    1. Boil whole sweet potatoes in salted water in a large saucepan over medium heat. Cook for 45-50 minutes or until the sweet potatoes are tender when pierced with a fork.
    2. Remove the potatoes from the water, drain, rinse and remove skins by rubbing each potato between paper towels.
    3. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
    4. Place the potatoes in a large mixing bowl. Add the butter and mix until smooth using an electric mixer.
    5. Mix in the brown sugar, sugar, milk, eggs, nutmeg, cinnamon, allspice and vanilla. Continue mixing until well combined.
    6. Pour the mixture evenly into the unbaked pie crust.
    7. Bake for 45-55 minutes or until lightly browned and an inserted knife comes out clean.
    8. Allow to cool completely, then cut into eight slices. Top with whipped cream or ice cream, if desired, serve and enjoy.
