  • Swaziland is an African nation located between South Africa to the north, south, and west and Mozambique to the east.
  • History

    The Swazi kingdom was established in the early 19th century by King Sobhuza. The South African Republic claimed the kingdom in the late 19th century, only to have the kingdom usurped by the British in the second Boer War. Swaziland was granted independence on September 6, 1968.
  • Geography

    Swaziland spans 17,364 square kilometers, and is comprised of mountains bordering Mozambique to the east, which descend to savannas, and rainforests in the northwest.
