Susan Sarandon is an actress and actvist. She is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador, former Ralph Nader supporter (in the 2000 election) and an Iraq War protester.
Sarandon can be seen in On the Line, an Academy Award nominated documentary that examines the nonviolent movement to close the School of the Americas, a U.S. Army school that trains Latin American soldiers.
Career
Sarandon's career began with her portrayal of Janet Weiss in the 1975 cult film The Rocky Horror Picture Show. Many roles followed with the likes of Bull Durham, Thelma and Louise, Dead Man Walking, and others. On the set of Bull Durham, Sarandon began a relationship with fellow actor Tim Robbins; the pair have two children together. Both Robbins and Sarandon are outspoken political activists and vocal critics of George W. Bush.
Who Do You Think You Are?
Susan Sarandon is one of the first celebrities scheduled to appear on the new NBC genealogical documentary series Who Do You Think You Are?. Awards
Sarandon won an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1996 for Dead Man Walking, in addition to four other Best Actress nominations. She has also been nominated for three Emmys, eight Golden Globes, two MTV Movie Awards, and three Screen Actors Guild Awards (including one win).
