Survivor is a CBS reality television series that places contestants in remote locations for 39 days and tests their ability to "survive" with the goal of the game being to "outwit, outlast and outplay" their competitors. The premise of the show is that the cast is dropped in a remote location and split into two tribes. The tribes battle each week for immunity, and the losing tribe must vote out one of their own members. Half way into the season, the tribes merge to form one large tribe. Individual immunity is the only guarantee of not being voted off. In recent seasons, they have added an hidden immunity idol that can also be put into play before the votes are read, but after the votes are cast.
