Survivor Tocantins Episode 1
- CBS Video: Survivor Tocantins Episode 1 (Time: 43:42)
- It's time! Welcome to the season premiere of Survivor Brazil! Oh, and Tocantins is pronounced "toe-can-cheese." (Weird.)
- They have already divided into two tribes, Jalapao and Timbira. No one has been allowed to talk to each other, but they have already formed opinions of each other, and not many have positive things to say.
- They are in the middle of nowhere in the back of a truck. Jeff says they have their first chance to work together, they have 60 seconds to get as many supplies off the truck as possible. They have no time to prepare!
- Everyone seems to be pulling their weight getting stuff off the truck. No doubt they will start complaining soon though.
- Jeff asks Benjamin Wade what he noticed about his tribe. Wade says everyone seemed to know just what to get, they have all the water and beans. He's happy with that. The Jalapao tribe looks a bit worried as they are told they have no water or food, but Spencer Duhm pipes up and says they are not worried about it.
- Probst hands out maps with a compass for their four-hour journey to base camp. It's 110 degrees already!
- Probst then announces that one person from each tribe will not make the journey. Time to vogte someone out. They still haven't been allowed to speak to each other.
- Joe Dowdle voted out Sandy Burgin.
- Taj Johnson George voted out Sandy also.
- Sydney Wheeler voted out Stephen Fishbach.
- Spencer Duhm voted out Sandy.
- Carolina Eastwood voted out Sandy and apologized for having to do so.
- Steven voted out Sandy.
- Sandy is pissed! "I didn't know it was going to be like this. I bet one of the youngest ones drop out first. We'll see who can handle the heat."
- Timbira tribe votes:
- Debbie Beebee voted out Sierra Reed
- Benjamin Wade voted out Sierra.
- Sierra looks pissed, but reveals that she is on antibiotics for strep throat.
- Erinn Lobdell voted out Sierra.
- Brendan Synnott voted out Erinn.
- Candace Smith voted out Sierra.
- Jerry Sims voted out Sierra.
- Sierra is called to stand with Probst. She says "I think I could have brought a lot this team. I'm sorry, I have a fever of 102 but, that's your choice. Fine by me."
- Probst says "I said, you will not take part in this adventure, this adventure is a 4 hour trek to camp. The good news is that while these guys carry all the camp supplies back, you'll both fly back in a helicopter." Sandy shows her excitement and Jeff quickly reminds her of the social game that she'll miss out on by not taking the trek with her tribe.
- Jalapao is on the way, Taj says she's here to get rid of her baby weight. Spencer is just excited to be on the show, but says the trek isn't easy. They stop to make sure they are headed in the right direction.
- JT says the hardest time he'll have is with the people, he plans on being a provider.
- Stephen thinks he and Spencer won't have anything to talk about as they are so different.
- JT suggests a different route to take, they all agree.
- Timbira is also headed to their camp. Most of the chicks are whining. One of the guys wants to know what Jerry does to work out. Jerry laughs, responding "eat potato chips and watch tv." (Jerry just got back from a tour in Afghanistan as a soldier, he'll try to keep as low key as he can.)
- Benjamin is starting to get bossy already. He pulls Brendan aside and wants to make a deal. Brendan is concerned about "Coach" (Benjamin) playing the game this early.
- Sandy has arrived at camp, she's still pissed they wanted to vote out "the old gal." She's in tears and a bit scared of what is to come.
- The first tree mail has arrived! Sandy can either start setting up camp or use this time to search for a hidden immunity idol! She chooses to look for the idol. (She's still crying.)
- Sierra arrives at Timbira. She's also found the note and chooses to build camp. She really wants to change the tribe's opinion of her.
- Jalapao has found their camp. Sandy crams the note in her bra, as she hasn't found the idol. They all hug her then wonder why nothing is done at camp. Carolina is pissed that she had to walk that far and nothing is done.
- They all laugh and wonder how to pronounce the name of their camp, everyone is calling it Jalapeno (like the hot pepper).
- Back at Timbira, it's now night and they still haven't found their camp. When they finally find it, they see that Sierra has been working very hard, the whole shelter is built!
- Coach totally appreciates her work, but knows they can't change what happened. He feels the tribe bonded without her on the trek and she'll be voted out because of it.
- It's day 2!
- At Jalapao they are working as a team to get their shelter built. Carolina being a bit bossy and is getting a few looks from her fellow tribe-mates.
- Sandy tells her tribe she's going to the bathroom, but takes off for the beach to dig for the idol. She found the next clue! She has to take 10 paces, but has no clue what a pace is.
- The rest of Sandy's tribe is now wondering where she is, one of the guys calls her "anti-social."
- At Timbira, they are out of water already. Sierra, Tyson and Candace go down to fill up the canteens. Tyson is skinny-dipping in front of the girls! They are all laughing, no one seems offended.
- The first tribal challenge is set!
- Six members of each tribe will race across a series of sand hills and into the river. In the river they will retrieve a raft loaded with puzzle planks. They will bring the raft back to shore and undo the puzzle planks. The remaining two tribe mates will put the staircase puzzle together. After the puzzle is together, any two tribe mates will use ropes to navigate a peg through the table maze. First team to complete the challenge and raise their flag wins.
- The winning team will win fire in the form of a flint and for immunity.
- For team J, Taj and Sandy will work the puzzle.
- For team T, Sierra and Erinn will work the puzzle.
- From the start, JT takes the lead. Both tribes are headed back with the rafts. Carolina is struggling.
- It's totally neck and neck. All are working on getting the puzzle pieces back to camp. Carolina and Sydney are now struggling, it's 120 degrees right now.
- Team J starts building their staircase first. Team T has also started.
- J team is still in the team after being led by Sandy. Spencer and Sydney are working well together on the maze.
- Erinn and Brendan are now working on the maze together and are quickly catching up with team J.
- It's a dead heat again.
- Team T back in the lead! Timbira wins!
- Syndey is confused on who to vote out tonight, she knows Sandy worked hard at the tribal challenge, but Sydney doesn't know who else to vote for.
- It's day three at the Jalapao tribe. Carolina is leading the team to water and many of them take a dip. Carolina tells Taj and Stephen that she's frustrated that nothing is completed at camp. Taj tells her not to panic and that she gets whiny a bit, to watch it. Carolina agrees and knows she's whiny.
- Spencer asks everyone not to vote out Sandy. Many think that Carolina is bossy and are worried that she'll get worse.
- Carolina tells Sandy that she is sorry for voting her out for being "the older lady." Sandy hugs her and tells her not to worry about it.
- Sandy believes she'll be voted out and will continue to look for the idol.
- First tribal counsel! It's a hut!
- Everyone lights their symbolic torch, as fire represents life in this game. As long as you have fire, you're still in the game.
- Jeff wants to know from Sandy how she feels about receiving the first impression vote. Sandy reveals that she has her heart in this game and wants to stay.
- When asked, JT says they voted her out strategically. Sydney points out that Sandy hasn't pulled her weight around camp. Sandy defends herself saying that she needed some time to collect her thoughts so he could get back in the game with nothing but positive thoughts. She's not out to change their perspective of her being the "old lady," because she is the old lady.
- Carolina feels like her team voted smart and made the right move. After being prompted by Jeff, Carolina reveals that she needs to learn when to shut her mouth. (No one says anything, but Spencer's eyes get big as he nods in agreement.)
- It's time to vote!
- Sandy votes out Carolina.
- Carolina votes out Sandy.
- These are the only votes shown.
- Sandy did not play a hidden immunity idol.
- Carolina is the first person voted off of Survivor!
- Carolina's last words: "I just got completely blindsided. I'm the first person voted off. I'm not going to lie, I'm pissed off. This sucks, it's embarrassing. However, I'm going to be the bigger person and wish them well. I think what initially got me voted off was my mouth. You know, it's a lesson learned. You guys are good."

- Next week, a game of shallow water polo in the rain brings out the aggressiveness in the players. One shot will change the whole game.
