In the ninth episode of Survivor Gabon Bob got paranoid thinking that he would be the next to be voted off. Corinne sends Bob to exile after she won a reward with Randy, Charlie and Matty. Bob quickly discovered the idol had already been found and he made a fake immunity idol. Kenny stepped up as the provider of food for his tribe. Randy tried to turn his tribe against Crystal. The tribes merged and named themselves "Nobag" (Gabon backwards) and Susie won individual immunity. Charlie gets voted off in a blindside from the newly formed tribe. Survivor Gabon Episode Nine Recap
- EW.com: Behind the Scenes of Episode 9 with Jeff Probst (November 14, 2008)
- Nine Survivors are left, who will be voted out tonight?
- Kota, Night 24
- Ken says that the "Crystal in me came out." Most seem proud that he stood up for himself and spoke his mind.
- In a private taping, Ken says that he believes all the blindsides that have happened are because of his actions. Ken also tells us that Bob will be the next to leave.
- Bob thinks that if they don't merge, he'll be history. Even though he teaches science. Bob's funny joke of the day right there.
- Fang, Day 25
- Fang is frustrated because they can't make fire and have no food.
- Treemail!
- ''It will be fun, long drives and short putts, you may need more practice than anyone thinks. A ones in a lifetime 'Cultural Trip' for those who perform best on the links."
- They will have to work with a huge slingshot.
- As the tribes see each other for the first time for the challenge, Matty lets out a huge grin when he hears that Marcus was voted out. Corrine, Sugar and Charlie gasp with surprise. Corrine tells Jeff that she's pissed, Susie pipes in and tells her it's just a game. Charlie looks like he's about to cry and sticks up for Marcus, saying that Marcus was the only one who never complained. Kenny says he doesn't understand why Marcus doesn't deserve to leave the game. Corrine feels that Marcus earned the right to stay in the game longer.
- Ok, back to the challenge, drama over for the moment.
- They will take a huge slingshot and aim it towards the golf flag and hole that is 300 yards away. The team that requires the least amount of shots to get one ball in the hole will win the round. Every time they miss they will move to where the ball landed, just like in golf. There will be three rounds. The winners will be taken to a Gabonese village, enjoy a dance ceremony, a meal and get to spend the night.
- Corinna will set out to even up the numbers.
- Bob and Matty each try, no score.
- Bob shoots again, comes much closer, but still no score.
- Matty shoots another, the ball goes to the left, but bounces about 20 feet and comes close.
- Randy gives it his best shot and misses.
- Ken steps up and makes it on his first try.
- Second hole is 225 yards away and uphill.
- Bob shoots and misses. Matty shoots and misses.
- Matty shoots again, misses it by only 6 inches! Bob misses another also.
- Ken tries and misses. Matty scores! Score is tied one-one. It's anyone's game!
- Matty shoots and misses, Kenny shoots and gets them very close.
- Bob launches and is close now. Ken is up again and just misses!
- Matty shoots again and hits the side of the hole.
- Ken is up again, he overshoots!
- Randy is telling Matty how to do it, Matty tells Randy to "shhhhhh." The whole tribe is getting mad at Matty. Charlie tells Randy that if they win this they need to do it happy and calm. Randy starts arguing about how it's done again, Matty gives him the big old "shhhhhh" again. Matty gets the ball in. Even after they win, Randy is still mad because Matty didn't do it the way he wanted. Sugar tells everyone to chill out.
- Corrine wants Bob to go to exile. He's outta here.
- Private tapings: Matty says that that was stressful, he had like 4 heart attacks. Randy says that what Matty pulled was ugly, he wouldn't even listen.
- Fang arrives at the village, very excited to have finally won a challenge.
- They are washing the tribe members with wet leaves! Funny stuff! After they are washed, the tribe members are draped in beautiful fabric.
- A beautiful little Gabonese girl has clung onto Corinna.
- The tribe (except Matty) is upset that Marcus was voted off.
- It's dancing time! Randy thinks one of the dancers liked him, and it's a weird feeling "because it's been 20 years since a woman has come on to me."
- Matty seems to be having the time of his life! He's totally getting into the dance. His main objective of today was to allow himself away from the game and be able to enjoy himself. Mission accomplished.
- Day 26, Kota
- Ken is frustrated as he can't row the boat! It's just going around in circles. He finally gets and and brings up the net, he brings home three fish! He's excited about being the man of camp with three beautiful women! He says "I know for a fact I can win this game."
- Bob chooses the clue instead of the luxury at exile island. He says "It's a clear choice for me because I'm in real deep doo-doo."
- Bob easily finds each clue, he sees that the idol has been taken at the final spot. He now thinks Sugar has found the island. He is now making something that looks like an idol! It's even awesome looking, shells, feathers, leather and more!
- Day 27, Fang
- Treemail!
- "Today it's not important if you're faster, stronger or smarter. To avoid going home tonight, be the best fire-starter."
- Randy says that you could give Crystal matches and gasoline and she still wouldn't be able to start a fire.
- They can't figure out if this is going to be tribe vs tribe or individual immunity. Randy wants to be free from "sasquatch," Charlie doesn't understand who Randy is talking about, Randy lays it out for him.
- Time for the immunity challenge!
- Bob's back!
- Today's challenge is for individual immunity! The tribes have merged!
- The new buffs are blue. Oh, and they are clean.
- In today's challenge, they will each have flint, steel and other fire making supplies. First person to build a fire high enough to burn a rope above their station will win.
- Bob is going after it! Crystal seems to have no method to her madness.
- Susie is the first to get a flame, she gets high quick but struggles to get it high enough to burn the rope. Matty cut himself a little.
- Sugar now have flame.
- Sugar and Susie are neck and neck. No one else even has a flame!
- Susie has won individual immunity.
- They will all return to the Fang camp. They will name themselves and build a new tribal flag once they arrive at camp.
- Privately, Randy says that there's no way he's going back to camp with Crystal, either she's gone or he'll be gone.
- Day 27
- Back at camp, there's new rice, coffee, beans and more. Everyone's excited, but they quickly break off into groups to talk strategy.
- Sugar tells Corrine that she can't live with Randy anymore. Corrine is trying her best to get Sugar to wait until next week. Charlie joins in the conversation and tells them both that Crystal will be voted out tonight.
- Sugar leaves, Corrine can't believe that Sugar is so gullible.
- Susie wants Charlie and Corrine broken up. Matty tells Crystal that she's on the chopping block tonight. Matty, Susie, Crystal and Ken all talk about who to get out, Charlie or Corrine. Ken wants Charlie gone, and even tells a few white lies to try and sway them.
- Ken tells Sugar that Charlie is the brain behind the other four. Sugar seems to be taking it all in, but isn't committing to anything.
- They are calling themselves "Nobag," Gabon backwards.
- Sugar doesn't trust anyone here and is unsure who she will vote for tonight. She knows that tonight will decide the rest of her game.
- At tribal council, they bring in the first member of the jury, Marcus. (Be sure to check out Survivor Ponderosa for behind the scenes action!)
- Jeff wants to know why Randy was so tense at the golf challenge. Randy replies that he had a way to get the ball in the hole 10 times out of 10 and no one would listen to him. Charlie thinks the communication really broke down.
- Crystal wants to know why Randy has an issue with her. He asks her "do you want a list?" He says the first nine days in camp, she made his life a living hell. Crystal and GC are the reason she lost and he thinks they ran the tribe like a gang.
- Crystal says she doesn't regret showing her emotion in the game.
- Charlie says that people need to process what they think they have to say before it comes out.
- In regards to the relationship between Ken and Charlie (they have never spoken before today, as they were always on different tribes) they both think each other is cool.
- Randy thinks that Ken has grown up since he was last a tribe-mate with him.
- Sugar says that her being away from everyone in this game has worried her because it leaves her open for people to talk while she's not there.
- Susie is offered the chance to assign the immunity idol to someone else, she declines.
- Time for the votes.
- Randy votes for Crystal and while calling her a b****h!
- Ken votes for Charlie and says he's sorry.
- Charlie votes for Crystal (because Crystal voted out Marcus.)
- No one played the hidden immunity idol.
- By a vote of 5-4, Charlie has been voted off! Another blindside! WOW!
- Randy looks pissed, Bob looks like he may be crying. Seems Crystal is having a hard time trying to keep from busting out in laughter!
- Charlie's final words: "This is a disaster. I 100% did not see this coming. What can you do at this point. I didn't think I would make it past the first tribal, instead I made it this far, it's amazing. If I'm going to leave Survivor, I'm glad it was a blindside. Thank God Marcus is in the jury house, that guy is my saving grace."
- On next week's episode, we get to watch Randy skinny dip! Ew! He's getting on everyone's nerves, Randy straight up tells Matty that he will not be a part of the final four. Ken devises a plan to save himself in the game.
