- EW.com: Behind the Scenes of Episode 5 with Jeff Probst (October 17, 2008)
- Fourteen Survivors are left, who will be voted out tonight?
- Night 12
- At the Fang camp, everyone is pretty down. Ace reminds everyone that Sugar hasn't eaten in three days and they should save some food for her. He's worried that he will be a target because of his alliances.
- Sugar joins Fang and thinks it sucks that Jacquie is gone and not Kelly. Sugar tells everyone that she gave up trying to find the immunity idol and spent all her time at the "Sugar Shack."
- Courtney believes Sugar has found the idol.
- Day 13
- It's dawn at the Kota camp, Bob and Marcus went fishing. Bob just got stung by one, it's an electric fish! This little 4 inch long fish is shocking them!
- Randy is happy to be at Kota, for the first time ever, Randy has no complaints!
- Outside of the Fang camp, Matty stumbles upon an elephant! He's running back to camp to let everyone know so they can see. Everyone goes quietly to see, everyone is totally amazed as they watch him eat. GC looks scared. Matty wants to take the kayak to get closer, Ace joins him. The elephant sees the boys, but there's no drama.
- Matty is very excited to have seen the elephant, saying it makes him appreciate the pure things in life, and appreciate Gabon.
- As the tribes get together for the next challenge, Kota is visibly upset that Jacquie was voted out. Marcus reminds them to get their heads together for the challenge and talk about it later.
- In today's challenge, each tribe will start with a large pile of fruit. Each tribe will work together to toss their fruit through a hole built in two separate wooden walls. Members from each side will use sticks to try and bat it to the ground. Once the fruit has hit the ground it cannot be picked back up. The tribe that gets the most fruit by weight to the end will win an herb garden, salt, oil and whatever fruit they catch.
- For Fang, Crystal and Ace will be armed with bats. For Kota, Bob and Charlie will bat.
- Fang is first on the board with one piece of fruit. Kota can't get any fruit past Ace. Fang now has tons of fruit.
- Kota is now tossing two pieces of fruit at once trying to throw Ace off. The plan is working, Kota is getting lots more fruit in.
- Both baskets are looking great.
- Ace blocked a pineapple with his face! Ok, in reality, Dan threw a pineapple and a piece of watermelon at the same time, Ace jumped up and they both hit him in the face.
- Time for the weigh in. It looks close!
- Fang has 16 pounds of fruit.
- Kota has 18 pounds. Kota wins reward.
- Kota will send Sugar to exile island. She laughs and says she'll go back to the "Sugar Shack." Jeff wants to know why they keep sending Sugar, Dan wants the immunity played before the merge to get another in play.
- Day 14
- Kota is checking all the plants to make sure they are watered. Charlie is very excited to have the garden. Dan asks all the members to stick together after the merge and get all the other tribe out. Everyone seems to agree...
- Marcus thinks Dan is too eager to express his devotion to the new tribe and believes no one believes it. He also thinks Susie is too quiet and wonders if she's on board with anything that has been said.
- Back at exile, Sugar of course grabs the comfort tile. She's eating pineapple and mango, very happy to be there.
- At Fang, GC laughs and says they can each have 13 grains of rice. Crystal tells GC in a motherly tone "Eat your rice!" GC's not happy with her telling him what to do and gets a little sassy with her. No major blow-up. Durn.
- Crystal privately tells GC that she was just joking. GC looks lost as he tells Crystal that he has some thinking to do. (He's having a hard time dealing with the whole "people" dynamic.)
- Day 15
- Treemail! The Gravity of the situation is you really need to score, at least prevent the other tribe or tonight you'll lose one more.
- Matty doesn't think his tribe will win because GC is losing it and Crystal is buggin' out.
- GC hops in the boat by himself. Matty and Ken go looking for him, GC is no where to be found. They have to leave for the challenge and are worried they will have to compete in the challenge without him. Crystal is back at camp getting mad because the other people are hollering for him, using their energy for a grown man who is acting like a child.
- GC gets back in time and was told that they almost had to leave without him. GC replies "That would have been find with me." (Wow, way to give up there.)
- The tribes arrive together at a grassy plain with a huge hill nearby.
- In this challenge, one member from each tribe will throw a huge bamboo-like ball down a cliff. Members of the other team will be blindfolded and must try to divert the ball, listing to a caller from their team directing them. Points are scored by getting the balls in specific slots, each worth a different amount of points. The team with the most points at the end of five rounds will win.
- Kota scores 2 points.
- Fang scores 5 points in the first round.
- Dan stops a ball.
- Kota scores 2 more points.
- Ace is getting pissed that Sugar isn't talking more than she is.
- Dan stops his own ball.
- Fang scores 2 points.
- Ace just fell.
- Kota scored 2.
- Ace's shield hit him in the face or so he says. I rewound it like 5 times, and I don't see a shield even close to his face. He dropped his shield and Dan's was a few inches from Ace.
- Final round.
- Dan stops the Fang ball. Randy tries giving Ace directions, but makes him stop when he should have kept moving.
- Kota scores 2 and wins immunity. (Sugar sucks at giving directions.)
- Fang has a date with Jeff, this will be the 5th tribal council they've made.
- After the challenge, at Fang, everyone seems to be in good energy. GC tells Matty that he's doing things in the game that aren't him and he's ready to leave the game. Matty tells GC that he'll regret it.
- Matty goes straight to Crystal and tells her that GC is quitting. She's upset and thinks that GC is playing games with them.
- Ken and Kelly agree to vote out GC. Ace and Sugar agree to vote out GC. Ace tells Sugar that he might have to call on her to use the idol and asks if she has it hidden. Sugar reveals that the idol is in her bag, but she doesn't believe anyone will look it it because she feels they don't think she has the idol.
- Meanwhile, back at camp, Matty wants to know what will happen if Sugar does have the immunity idol. Crystal digs in her bag and shows Ken, Kelly and Matty that Sugar does have the idol. They quickly agree that they need to blindside her tonight. But wait! Matty is having second thoughts!
- Time for the nitty-gritty. At tribal council, Jeff wants to know about the wear and tear of being out here. Ace is starting to feel it and see it in the players as belts keep getting smaller and clothes are getting more loose. GC says that it is definitely getting hard not eating and makes you wonder what is more important, being with family and friends or being here. Sugar mentions that GC has talked about going home. GC admits to not having the easiest life and feels that he should be done suffering. Sugar's crying and admits that they all feel this way. Matty says there's no quitting, you cannot give yourself that option.
- Jeff brings up that Sugar has spent more time at exile than at both camps combined. She admits that she hasn't been able to bond with everyone and even brought her bag tonight.
- Ken is frustrated that Sugar keeps getting sent back to exile. She mentions that no one has asked her if she found the idol and says that she leaves her bag out all the time. Crystal thinks it's crazy for Sugar to leave her bag out.
- Time for the votes.
- Sugar did not play the immunity idol.
- First vote, GC
- Second vote GC
- Third vote, Kelly
- Fourth vote, GC
- Fifth vote, GC
- GC has been voted off of Survivor.
- GC says he didn't expect it to be this hard and he has a great respect for whoever makes it. He admits to voting for Kelly as a throw-away vote because he got to know her least out of all the other members.
- On next weeks episode, Ace isn't sure who his alliance is truly with. Sugar contemplates giving Ace the immunity idol. (Is there anyone else in this game besides Sugar and Ace?!)
