Surf Nicaragua

Surfing Nicaragua can be a great opportunity for surfing enthusiasts. Great waves and low competition equal outstanding days filled with surfing, surfing and more surfing! The best surfing locations are located on the Pacific coast near the town of San Juan del Sur. Finding the best spots can require a little local knowledge and an off-road vehicle, so consider hiring a guide or making quick friends with more knowledgeable surfers. This page gives you information on what you need to know to surf Nicaragua.

When coming to surf in Nicaragua, for the first time, it is best to sign up with a surf tour operator, or stay at a surf-friendly hotel that will pick you up at the airport in Managua. A tour operator will be equipped to transport your boards and gear safely and get you to San Juan so you can get out on the surf faster. As with many roads in Nicaragua, the path to San Juan is not alway labeled well, so it can be a little tricky getting to this hide-away town.
