Superman Returns

Superman Returns is a 2006 American superhero action film directed by Bryan Singer.

Superman Returns is supposed to take place five years after 1980's Superman II. In those five years, Superman went missing from Metropolis, and the city learned to progress without him.

His return is met with hostility from Lois Lane (Kate Bosworth), who has since been engaged and had a child (who was hinted to also be Superman's in the film).

Lex Luthor (Kevin Spacey), released from prison in Superman's absence, meanwhile plots to create a new landmass that would threaten Metropolis and the rest of the world. Superman saves the day at the end, and assures Lois and everyone else that he is here to stay.

Superman Returns currently has a 73% "Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Despite praise for its entertainment value, some critics thought its runtime was too long, and found the casting problematic. The film was still a box office success, grossing $391 million worldwide.
