Pit is one of the out-of-the-box playable characters in Super Smash Bros. Brawl for the Wii. Historically, he is the angel-winged protagonist in the Kid Icarus series of games, the first of which was released for the NES in 1987. Pit is a widely popular character among Smash fans, in part because of his long-range and close-range capabilities. Pit also has perhaps the best recovery tactics in the game, in part because he can return to a platform three different ways.
