Shrinking Satellite
- The green-checkered platforms vanish when stepped on. Follow the path to the launch star.
- The launch star will land you on a many sided-structure composed of the vanishing platforms, with a trail of notes ringing it. You must grab every single note without falling to survive.
- As soon as you land, run forward on the note "trail", grabbing notes without stopping or changing direction, until there are no notes directly ahead of your path. The note "trail" will instead veer to the left, follow it.
- Grab the notes and you will eventually come across a gap, created by your previous travels on the structure. Long jump over the gap to the notes on the other side, on the right.
- Grab the remaining notes. The black hole will disappear, revealing a star. Fall down and grab it.

Rolling In The Clouds
- You must roll a ball across an obstacle course without falling off. To move the ball, orient your Wiimote so that it is pointing straight up, then tilt the Wiimote as if it were a throttle. The ball rolls in the direction the Wiimote tilts in. The ball can also jump like Mario, and will run over enemies in its path.
- Jump on the ball to begin. Roll the ball and jump onto the dais with the cannon.
- Roll into the hole. to the next area.
- The easiest path is probably the left-hand side. Collect the star bits in your path.
- Cross the bridge and avoid the Goomba as squishing him may cost you control of the ball.
- In the next area, you have the choice of an easier path with a gap to jump, or a longer, trickier path with no gaps. The gap is easy to jump if you approach it at full speed and jump at the last second.
- Use the cannon at the end to reach the goal. Park the ball in the hole, then climb the flag pole to get the star.
A Very Sticky Situation
- This level is unlocked by completing "Tarantox's Tangled Web" in Space Junk Galaxy. A Hungry Luma will appear outside the Fountain; feed him 400 Star Bits to create the Launch Star.
- Use the first sling pod to fling to a series of pods, one after the other. Fling Mario whenever there is a gap in the cannonballs. Stop at the third pod.
- Fling Mario to the pod surrounded by floating gates; fling Mario after a gate passes and there is not a cannonball in his path.
- Fling Mario to the next pod, making sure to grab the 1-up (try over-correcting to the left a bit, to ensure you get it).
- For the gantlet of cannonballs, fling Mario straight across the arrow composed of star bits, after the cannons each fire a set of three cannonballs.
- Now you have a minefield with pull stars. Hold A to latch onto one and let Mario center on the star, then proceed on and on slowly through the field. There is a 1-up to the right if you are skilled enough to get it.
- Use the pull stars to reach a sling pod at the end of the minefield. There is another pull star just beyond the sling pod; use it to grab a ? coin.
- The ? coin creates lines of star bits that will demonstrate to the player the correct trajectory to launch Mario through the next set of hazards. Do so, when the firebars are not blocking your path.
- The last pod will see you launch Mario towards the star while it is surrounded by spinning gates. Wait for the gate circling closest to the star moves out of the way before attempting any sling.
The Fiery Stronghold
- Follow the path forward, avoiding the firebars. Grab the 1-up in the crystal.
- The big block with the face is called a "Thwomp". You must wait for it to slam into the ground, then run past it while it rises. If you are crushed, it is an instant death for Mario.
- Leap on the green platform past the Thwomp to an area with opposing gravity fields, blue and purple.
- Jump into the purple field, then jump into the blue when a floating platform passes underneath. Jump back into the purple at the end of the platform's pass.
- Make your way forward to a yellow platform and ride it to the next area (watch out for the firebars and Thwomp).
- Carefully run around the firebar wheel as it rotates clockwise; get the 1-up inside the wheel's field before continuing.
- In the next area, dodge the Thwomps and firebars as best you can.
- Near the end, Bowser will eventually appear and bomb the area with fireballs. You must run forward as fast as you can before the ledges collapse. Avoid long jumps as they can cause Mario to stun himself against the side of a ledge. Get the Life Mushroom in the crystal at your own risk.
- At the top you will fight Bowser on top of a star reactor.
- BOSS: Bowser
- Bowser will stomp the ground, creating a ring wave. Jump over it, then stand on one of the blue orbs on the star reactor. When Bowser jumps into the air and dives at you, move out of the way. He should slam into the blue orb, breaking it and immolating his tail. As he runs about in pain, run towards him and spin attack his flaming tail. Finally, while he is stunned, run into him to damage him.
- Bowser will respond with a fireball barrage, and then two ring waves. Dodge them and then stand on a blue orb again. Again, trick him into breaking the blue orb, then spin attack his flaming tail and then run into him. This time, when he is stunned he will slide around the reactor.
- Bowser's final attack will be another fireball barrage, then three ring waves. After the attacks, trick him again into smashing a blue orb. This time, when he is stunned, you must run into him two times. He will leave behind a Grand Star for you to take.
THE KITCHEN
- Getting the Grand Star from "Bowser's Star Reactor" will grant you access to a new hub: the Kitchen. The Kitchen is to the east of Rosalina, at the top of the isolated tower adorned with cooking utencils. Your ultimate goal is the Grand Star in Bowser Jr's Airship Armada.
Sunken Treasure
- Cross the docks and islands to the big penguin (the coach). He will ask you to collect 5 star chips. His students in the water will provide swimming tips. You can pop bubbles underwater for more air in a pinch.
- Dive into the water from the coach's spot and look for 5 star chips. Right below the coach, at the bottom, is the first one.
- Look for another inside a clam to the left.
- Find another inside a crate near the clam (spin attack it to open it).
- Follow the "wall" of water near the aforementioned clam to a dead end with a giant eel menacing in front of the 4th star chip.
- The last star chip is out on the open on the other end of the pool of water. A Launch Star will appear; use it.
- Mario will be launched onto the hills above the pool. If you grab the ? Coin, it will create a trail of notes; collect all the notes to get a 1-up.
- On the other end of this area is a blue switch. Ground pound it to create a wood catwalk. Quickly run to the other side to climb up onto it, then to the plateau it leads before time runs out (use long jumps)
- At the top is another blue switch; ground pound it and use wall jumps to climb up the wood walls it created.
- At the peak is a massive crystal with the star. Spin attack it until the star is broken free.
Passing the Swim Test
- Run to the coach and talk to him. Say yes to begin the "swim test".
- Look for the penguins swimming around underwater. The leading penguin has a gold Koopa shell. Swim into his shell to steal it. Note that Koopa shells underwater work line undersea jetskis.
- Bring the gold shell back to the coach for a star.
The Secret Undersea Cavern
- Dive straight into the water at the start and swim down and all the way to the left.
- Grab the Koopa shell and drive it into the depression in the rock wall in front of it (you saw it in this level's intro cutscene)
- Swim into the new cavern; watch out for Swoopers (bats). Break the crate in the metal bars to reveal a hole. Ground pound the stump behind the bars for a Launch Star.
- Next area: small catwalks and platforms with Thwomps and Tox Boxes about. Tox Boxes are the flipping blocks with the faces. It is safe to stand under one only if the faces are all upright. Getting crushed by a Tox Box is instant death. The catwalks sometimes have a solitary star bit lying in the center; these star bits hint at a safe spot from the Tox Boxes.
- Follow the path forward. Avoid the Thwomp and the first Tox Box. Remember that the solitary star bits hint where to stand to avoid getting crushed; try not to collect the star bit so that you do not forget where the safety spots are.
- The next bit has floating platforms underneath wooden steps shaped like triangles. Use air-braked long jumps to leap onto the triangles. Cross to the other side.
- Run forward at the split to continue. At the right turn, wait for the Tox Box to appear, then follow it.
- You can either use the vanshing platforms for a short cut around the three Tox Boxes, or just get past them as you did with the first one. The first shortcut has a 1-up.
- After the third Tox Box, avoid the last Thwomp and grab the star.
Wall Jumping up Waterfalls
- Select the level named "The Secret Undersea Cavern".
- Get the Koopa shell, and this time bring it to a treasure chest that is stuffed in a corner to the right of the waterfall. Break it open and use the Launch Star.
- Next area: several roaring waterfalls and a blue creature called a Cataquack. The Cataquack does not hurt Mario, but will chase after him and attempt to launch him into the air.
- Lead the Cataquack to underneath the ? Coin high in the air. Let him launch Mario into the air to reach it. It will create an Ice Flower.
- Grab the Ice Flower. It will turn Mario into Ice Mario. Ice Mario can walk on water, turning it to ice. This also means the ability to wall jump up waterfalls. Ice Mario is timed; if you run out, get the Ice Flower again.
- From the Ice Flower, run straight ahead to the waterfalls parallel to Mario. Wall jump upwards to a sling star. Quickly use it.
- Quickly scale up the next set of waterfalls and use the sling star.
- At the top is only one waterfall (a Goomba is in front of it). You must either backflip or cartwheel jump into the waterfall, then wall jump from there to the sling star.
- Next area: a pond with with a Cataquack on an island, and a star floating above a tiny island on the other side. An Ice Flower is in a crystal at the shore; your goal is to get the Cataquack to launch you to the star, using ice power.
- Grab the Ice Flower and create a path of ice to the Cataquack. Let him follow you VERY closely as you lead him over the water to the tiny island below the star. Have him launch you upwards there for the star. If he falls into the water, he will reappear back at the island. Watch out for the icebergs; note where they are before you grab the Ice Flower.
Fast Foes On The Cyclone Stone (COMET)
- You start at the area with the Tox Boxes and Thwomps from "The Secret Undersea Cavern". This time the obstacles will move twice as fast. Otherwise, this area plays the exact same.
Luigi and the Haunted Mansion
- Use the Launch Star under the Starshroom.
- The Pumpkin Goombas are immune to stomps until you break their pumpkin helmets with a spin attack. Get past them and head down the bridge to the mansion (hide where the coins are to avoid the Chomp).
- Enter the mansion and hit the blue lever by the door. It will activate a search light. Lure all the Boos (ghosts) in the room into the light to destroy them and unlock the exit; the Boos will follow you if your back is turned.
- In the next room, grab a star chip on your current floor.
- Run up the closest arrow onto the wall; get the star chip orbiting a black hole.
- Run up the arrow to walk on the ceiling; grab the two chips. You can also ground pound the cracked area in the ceiling to access a secret room full of goodies.
- Go back down onto the wall and use the arrow on the right for the final star chip and the Launch Star; launch off.
- When you land, run to the right to see a key floating in a void. Jump to the key and quickly use the pull stars to fly back to safety before Mario falls to his doom.
- After getting the key, enter the door way on your right. Take out the Boos and grab the ? Coin in the back to get your first Boo Mushroom.
- Boo Mario can phase out to float metal bars. Phase out by shaking the Wiimote, then float through the metal bars here.
- In the next room, phase through the bars blocking the lamp. Use the lamp to revert Mario to normal.
- Use the nearby trampoline to jump over the bookcase to find Luigi. Talk to him to get the star. He will also eventually provide access to three new levels; Check with Mailtoad often for letters from Luigi to access them.
A Very Spooky Sprint
- Launch to the pavilion with the Pumpkin Goombas. This time the bridge to the mansion is gone and you will need to use the pull stars to cross the void to the Launch Star.
- You will land on a planet and race a Boo with goggles. You must use the pull stars to navigate the course. Always aim at the pull star furthest ahead. Be careful to not bump into obstacles.
- At the third turn, do not turn the corner. Instead, pull star Mario into the bend of the turn for a semi-secret sling star. Use it for a big shortcut.
- The final stretch has pull star planets. Quickly land on them and leap ahead to the next planet/pull star. Do not slow down on them.
- If you win the race, you will get a star.
Beware of Bouldergeist
- Launch to the pavilion as usual and cross the bridge. Watch out for the enemies, including a Chomp on the bridge.
- Inside the mansion is a Bomb Boo. Spin attack him and Mario will swing the ghost around as if it were a tether hammer. Mario can then slam the Bomb Boo into obstacles to destroy them. Blow up the Bowser statue in the fireplace using the Bomb Boo and use the Launch Star.
- Next area: take out the Scuttle Bugs (spiders) and get Mario onto the sling pod they are guarding. Fling Mario to the stone steps above to the right.
- Get in the sling pod here and fling Mario to the sling star in the center of the wall. Launch upwards into the Launch Star, and launch off.
- Next area: take out the Bomb Boos (there is a 1-up under the Bowser statue). Use the spring board to get into the field of sling pods.
- You must fling Mario around the sling pods to get the five star chips. You will need to fling Mario into the sling star nearby to get the last star chip.
- Once the pull stars are created, fling Mario the sling pod on the upper left and cross to the Launch Star using the pull stars.
- Next area: a stone cage orbiting above a moon with a bouncy surface. You must search this area to find the Launch Star. If you fall, bounce your way back onto the stone cage. There is a 1-up down on the bouncy moon. Watch out for the mines.
- Buy a Life Mushroom from the blue Luma and head to the boss.
- BOSS: Bouldergeist
- Bouldergeist will throw a pile of rocks at Mario. Run to the left or right to avoid the barrage. Also, watch out for any shadows that appear on the floor; stalagmites will tear out of the ground and block your path (spin attack to destroy them). Grab any Bomb Boo's that appear and swing them into Bouldergeist. Keep slamming Bomb Boos into him until his rocky shell shatters; quickly slam a Bomb Boo into his exposed organ to damage him.
- Bouldergeist will reform and this time create giant stone hands. In addition to his earlier attacks, he will now throw telegraph punches. The hands will also get in the way of hitting Bouldergeist himself with Bomb Boos; even if you destroy the hands, they will eventually regenerate. The best tactic, other than simply destroying a hand and quickly hitting him with a Bomb Boo before it revives, is to lure a Bomb Boo close to Bouldergeist's face and from there slap him with the Bomb Boo.
- After finally destroying his rocky shell, quickly hit his exposed organ again with a Bomb Boo. He will not survive to a third wave like most bosses. Take his star.
Matter Splatter Mansion
- Choose the "A Very Spooky Sprint" level and head to the pavilion with the Pumpkin Goombas.
- Look for a glowing stalagmite in the pavilion and destroy it for a Launch Star. Launch off.
- Follow the ethereal floor aura to the right, then use the one nearby to get the key.
- In the next room, grab the ? Coin to get this room's floor aura moving. Ignore the ? Blocks unless you want star bits and coins, and follow the floor spot to the exit.
- Grab the key, and then the ? Coin in the closet. Follow the trail of star bits up.
- Grab the next key and take the coin if you like, and follow the floor aura up to the next key.
- Grab the next key and get the 1-up and coins if you want, then continue up.
- Grab the final key and stand near the second door from the right. The door will open and reveal the star.
Bouldergeist Daredevil Run (COMET)
- You must defeat Bouldergeist without taking a single hit. Otherwise, he fights the same as before. During the phase with the hands, it's more important than ever to lure Bomb Boos close to him to hit Bouldergeist without wasting time on his hands; the more you waste time with the hands, the more likely Mario will take a hit.
