The Frozen Peak of Baron Brrr
- Mario can skate on ice by shaking the Wiimote. Do so to catch the penguin. He will provide a Launch Star when caught.
- Next area: a frozen lake with platforms. The freezing water will injure Mario the longer he swims in it. Watch for Brrr Bits; these are the pebble-like enemies with freezing auras. You must spin attack them once to remove the aura, then again to destroy the creature (if not, it will attempt to recharge itself by diving into the water).
- Cross the platforms, eliminating the enemies. Grab the ? Coin to create an Ice Flower above the water fountain. Grab it.
- Recalling that Ice Mario can walk and skate on water, skate across the lake to the left to some ledges. Climb the ledges and hopscotch across the fountainheads to the other side.
- Head north to where the arrow sign is pointing and follow the path. Watch out for the wall faces; do not let them shove you into the water.
- Follow the platform and bridges in the next lake to the next Ice Flower. Grab it, and head to the ledges north.
- Climb the ledges while still as Ice Mario. You will need to use the wall faces to scale onward (wait for them to fully extend).
- Past the ledges and wall faces is a sling star that will launch you to a pair of fountainheads. Use the fountainheads to quickly scale up to the arena before the Ice Flower power runs out. A boss is waiting in the arena.
- BOSS: Baron Brrr
- Baron Brrr will continuously launch icy bombs onto Mario's location, which in turn will spawn Brrr Bits. Always stay on the move while you fight the boss.
- Run to the left and hop along the platforms to an alcove hidden under crystal. Smash the crystal and get an Ice Flower hidden in there.
- Run along the water to the front of Baron Brrr's plateau. Wall jump up to him from where the coins are floating.
- When you reach Baron Brrr, hit him with two spin attacks; you MUST still be in Ice Mario mode to damage him, or otherwise Mario will be the one taking damage.
- If you ever run out of Ice Flower power, head down to collect the Ice Flower again. Return to Baron Brrr and continue hitting him. It takes a total of three pairs of spin attacks to eliminate Baron Brrr. Collect his star afterward.
Conquering the Summit
- Select the level "The Frozen Peaks of Baron Brrr".
- Play through the level as normal until you reach the first Ice Flower (the one on the fountain).
- Grab it and move very quickly up the ledges and fountainheads. Instead of heading north to the wall faces, use the fountainheads nearby to grab a 1-up and access a secret sling star. Launch off to a new slope on the mountain.
- Get the Fire Flower; you'll need its fireballs to destroy any snowman blocking the way (the freezing Swoopers can only be killed by fireballs as well). Make your way past the wall faces next.
- Past the wall faces is a second snowman. You must destroy it with fireballs and use the sling star it drops to launch off to a new area and a checkpoint.
- Next area: grab the Fire Flower again. Watch out for boulders and destroy the snowman in the way.
- Proceed at your own pace past the wall faces (get the 1-up if you like). Then go around the corner and climb up the cliffs.
- Grab the Fire Flower and take out the Swoopers. Collect the Fire Flower again, then quickly run up the mountain (watch for that boulder) and destroy the snowman above the boulder hole. Launch upwards.
- Watch out for the Swooper and follow the path up. When the wall faces retract, wall face up the chimney they reside in and grab the star at the peak.
Freezeflame's Blistering Core
- Skate around the ice ring and search for star chips, all in crystal. Three are on the top, two are on the bottom. Use the pull stars to reach the Launch Star.
- Next area: Mario is in a magma-flooded moon core. The spike ball creatures cannot be touched, even by spin attacks; they are only vulnerable to fireballs and the magma.
- Climb up the steps and head to the right, smashing the crates in your way. There is a pole past the crates, climb it.
- Use the pole reach a series of platforms that lead to an area with more crates and a ? Coin in front of a gate. Get the ? Coin and then the Fire Flower that spawns. Destroy the spike balls with fireballs.
- Light the crucible by the gate to open it. Then run to the left and light the two crucibles next to the arrows to create a staircase. Get the Life Mushroom nearby first (if you haven't already).
- Climb the stairs and jump up to the stone path on the ceiling. Continue on and look for a Fire Flower in a bubble. Get it and blast any spike ball in your way as you move on towards the stone structure ahead.
- Light all the crucibles around the stone structure and a chimney will be created. Wall jump upwards.
- Use the titling bridges to cross the magma, and the floating platforms to reach the paths that have a Fire Flower. Watch for Burn Bits (firey counterparts to the Brrr Bits. Defeat them in the same way).
- Get the Fire Flower and jump onto the floating platforms in front of the crucible. As the platform swings in front of the crucibles, hurl fireballs so that they bounce across the magma, igniting them.
- When both crucibles are ignited, the gate holding the star will open, and a bridge will form. Cross the bridge to the star.
Hot and Cold Collide
- Follow the icy path underneath the surface to a crystal containing the Launch Star. Launch off.
- Next area: a cavern with a water level that rises and falls. Head to the doorway with the arrow; there will be a green valve handle. Spin attack it while the water level is down, then jump to the now-open door.
- Head to the gate holding the Fire Flower and make a left. Follow the path. Watch the lava level, it rises and falls in this area.
- The path will curve around to an area filled with spiky balls. Near the gate is a valve handle; turn it (you may need to wait for the lava level to diminish first).
- Get the Fire Flower. Run back to the ice cavern and light the crucibles underneath the columns before time runs out. Use the Launch Star.
- Next area: Mario must skate through the ice and fire course as Ice Mario. Grab the Ice Flower and skate through the lava platforms.
- At the end jump up to the ice platforms above and grab the Ice Flower on the pedestal. Follow the course as it curves to the right and back left.
- Grab the last Ice Flower and skate your way to the goal with the star.
Frosty Cosmic Mario Race (COMET)
- The race takes place on the last section of the level "Hot and Cold Collide". This time, there is no lava platforms, and with it no Ice Flowers.
- Simply skate to the end, and take as many shortcuts as possible. You can, for example, skip the entire last turn and jump straight to the star (by buffering). By shortcutting, even Cosmic Luigi will be an easy opponent.
Scaling the Sticky Wall
- Grab the Bee Mushroom to begin; you must stay in Bee Mario form at all times as only Bee Mario can scale the honeycombs.
- Follow the honeycombs upward. They will lead to a set of moving honeycomb platforms.
- Crawl onto the moving honeycombs; fly to them only if you are confident in your flying skills. Use the moving honeycombs to reach a section above.
- Fly to and grab the ? Coin if you want a large prize of star bits; otherwise, make your way right to the Launch Star.
- Next area: meteors are tumbling down from above. They are easily dodged if you take your time. Keep moving right.
- You will need next to climb up against a shower of meteors. Position Mario so that he climbs upward in between the second and third meteors, then climb to the moving platform at the top.
- Use the moving platforms to reach the Launch Star on the far right. Launch off.
- Next area: Mario will be under assault from Mandibugs as he climbs. Move upward and always let the Mandibugs make the first move, then move past them while they reset into their position.
- At the first moving platform, ride it to the 1-up. Then fly to the one above, then quickly leap from it and fly to the next one above (or you will be pulled into a swath of Mandibugs).
- Fly from the third moving platform to the honeycombs with the coins.
- Next, fly to the honeycomb in the lower left, then fly up to the honeycomb above and to the left.
- Fly straight up two honeycombs, onto to the one right below a Mandibug spinning around and near the star. Jump out of his way and fly to the star.
Bigmouth's Gold Bait
- This level will become available after completing the level "Soaring On Desert Winds" in Dusty Dune Galaxy. A Hungry Luma will appear outside the Bedroom; feed it 800 star bits.
- Take out the crabs by spin attacking them, then quickly running behind them and spin attacking their posteriors while they are still immobile. The blue one has a 1-up.
- Dive into the water and spin attack through the water. Smash up the brick wall and continue.
- Search the kelp at the bottom of the cavern for 5 star chips. The sling star will appear in the center on a rock (where one of the star chips is located). Watch out for enemies as you search.
- Grab the gold Koopa shell and return all the way back to the shore (look out for the horde of Boos). Break open the gold chest with the gold shell and grab the star.
Darkness on the Horizon
- Do not ever touch the dark matter (the black/purplish substance); it's deadly to the touch. Jump onto the yellow platforms and make your way forward.
- Long jump over the rotating platforms and watch out for the Dry Bones.
- You will now need to ride on platforms that move about in various gravity fields. Jump from the blue platform into the corner of the "backwards L" platform.
- When the "backward L" drifts into the green gravity field, Mario should not fall off. Jump on to the top of the backwards L platform.
- From there, jump to the red platform, then to the corner of the "L" platform. When that platform drifts into the next gravity field, Mario should still be safe. Get the 1-up with a backflip.
- Jump from the L platform quickly to the gray ledges before it drifts back. Follow the ledges up.
- Take out the Goombas and climb up the pole. Make your way right; avoid the anti-matter spots and keep moving forward carefully. Stay on the platforms closest north from your camera's viewpoint to reach the ledge.
- Jump onto the red platform traveling up, then onto a blue platform ahead when one is available to the left (away from the anti-matter). Make your way to the ledge and grab the 1-up.
- Jump onto the blue platform in the green gravity field. You want to leap onto the left-side platform resembling an upside-down T (orienting from the bottom of your TV).
- When the upside-down T rides into the blue gravity field, leap onto the left side of the plus sign-shaped platform before it drifts into the green field.
- Once the plus sign platform drifts into the green field, climb onto the other side of it before it drifts into the purple field.
- Climb onto the other side of the plus sign platform while it is in the purple field, before it enters the white field.
- When your reach the white field, climb over to the L-shaped platform and ride it into normal gravity. Take the brown elevator out of the area.
- Break all the crystals here, one will create some steps; another will have a Life Mushroom. Make your way up to Bowser.
- BOSS: Bowser
- Jump over the ring waves, then avoid his spin attacks. Eventually he will jump high into the air; trick him into landing onto a blue orb as before. While his tail is on fire, chase him and spin attack him, then spin attack him while he slides across the reactor.
- Bowser will counterattack with a slew of fireballs; dodge them. Afterward, he will send out more ring waves before launching into a flurry of spin attacks. Finally, he will try to stomp Mario again; again, trick him into landing into a blue orb, then spin attack him.
- Bowser will go ape and throw out a massive blitz of fireballs and waves. After he finishes with his blitz, run away from him with long jumps or he will cream Mario with vicious spin attacks. When he finally gets back to trying to stomp Mario, trick him into landing on a blue orb as usual, then spin attack him until he falls. Collect the Grand Star.
The Engine Room
- Getting the Grand Star from "Bowser's Dark Matter Reactor" will grant you access to a new hub: the Engine Room. The Engine Room is accessed by the telepad near the tower containing the Kitchen. Your ultimate goal is the Grand Star in Bowser Jr's Lava Reactor.
- The final level, Bowser's Galaxy Reactor, will also now be available if you have in addition 60 stars collected. Rosalina will inform you if the requirements are complete; talk to her to head to the final battle if you so choose to.
Star Bunnies on the Hunt
- From where you land, turn around and use the flower stem to launch upwards.
- Grab the Bee Mushroom and prepare to search for 5 star chips.
- Fly straight ahead to the purple flower and use it to reach the ledge above. Jump on the trampoline at the edge of the cliff to get the first star chip.
- Fly to the waterfall and drop to the ledge below. There is a crate with a star chip.
- Fly up to the ledge on the left and get the star chip above the three corks. You can fly to it, or just ground pound the three corks for a sling star.
- Fly up to the ledge above the three corks to get a star chip surrounded by Piranha Plants. If you do not have Bee power, you can wall jump up a chimney hidden on the other side of the cliff.
- Finally, use the nearby trapeze swing to reach the sling star. The final star chip is in the fountain.
- The pull stars appear at the starting point. Ride them to the Launch Star.
- Next area: a wooden planet with another bunny chase. Search for an orange button to ground pound and pound it.
- Walls will pop up which will hinder the bunny's movement. Catching the bunny with the walls up is now doable; he will drop a star when caught.
Cataquack to the Skies
- Run to the hole the boulders are streaming out of; there's a Cataquack nearby. Use it to launch you to a sling star.
- Grab the Bee Mushroom on the lily pad. Wake up the sleeping Cataquacks and let them launch you upwards to a ledge with another Cataquack.
- Use the next Cataquack to launch Mario to a ledge with an orange switch. Ground pound it to create a star bit trail, and follow it to the Launch Star.
- Next area: a planetoid with a Cataquack and a Wiggler. Lure the Cataquack to the spot with a Cataquack symbol on it and let him launch you upwards to a new planet.
- Next area: a boxy planet with crates and a Cataquack. Lure the Cataquack to the spot with a Cataquack symbol and have him launch you as before. Destroy any crates and Goombas in his way.
- Next area: a long square snake-like structure with Cataquacks. Run to the opposite tip and wait for one to launch you to the Launch Star.
- Next area: a planet surrounded by purple flowers leading to a star. There are lots of enemies on the planet below the flowers, including Monty Moles and rock-spitting octopi. Make sure to eliminate them on sight to keep them out of the way.
- From the start, look for a Bee Mushroom floating high in a bubble and mark its location. Search for a Cataquack and have it launch you to the Bee Mushroom.
- As Bee Mario, lure the Cataquack to the tower that resembles a Jenga stack, and have it launch you. Fly the rest of the way up to the top.
- Fly from the tower to a plateau to a series of purple flowers. They will lead to the star. Watch out for flies.
The Bell on the Big Tree
- Select the level "Cataquack to the Skies".
- Play through the level as normal until you launch off on your first Cataquack and reach the first Bee Mushroom on the lily pad.
- Run behind the big tree. There is a bubble maker back there. Hop in a bubble.
- Use the bubble blowing controls to guide the bubble upwards; you should spot a bell attached to the tree trunk.
- Guide the Wiimote cursor over the bell and press A. A note trail will now appear. Collect all the notes while riding the bubble to reveal a star.
When It Rains, It Pours
- Head to the ledge with the trapeze swing. Run around to the back and wall jump up the chimney to the ledge.
- From the ledge, jump to the rain cloud holding the Bee Mushroom.
- Fly over to the rain cloud ahead, above the purple flowers. Follow the purple flowers to the ledge beyond. Do not fly under a rain cloud or Bee Mario will get wet and lose his powers.
- Use the trapeze swing to reach a rain cloud ahead. Follow the path of rain clouds to a series of wooden catwalks.
- This time, you must either fly along the catwalks, avoiding the rain clouds, or perform the journey on foot which risks your Bee powers and obviously a fall.
- If you reach the end, there is a trampoline. Ground pound it to a trapeze, then continue.
- Next area: note the wet trails. They signify the path of rain clouds; you must avoid them as Bee Mario to progress. There is a Bee Mushroom nearby if you need one.
- Follow the wet trail upwards, hiding in alcoves to avoid rain clouds. Halfway up, you will either need to make some expert flying, or ride a rain cloud, to a ? Coin and a trampoline.
- Ground pound on the trampoline and fly up to a ledge to continue.
- Ground pound the rock here to create a vine. Ride it up to a boss.
- BOSS: Undergrunt Gunner
- If you have Bee power, then this battle is simple: fly above the gunner's pod and ground pound it. It will take three ground pounds to defeat him. After the second hit, he will fire much more aggressively; hide behind the metal plate and fly to him when there's a gap in the barrage.
- If you do not have Bee power, you will need to ground pound the orange switch nearby to create a series of platforms on the spikes. Follow the platforms to the gunner's pod as best as you can. When you get close, buffer jump onto his pod and ground pound. Three hits will do him in.
- Collect the star after the battle is over.
Cosmic Mario Forest Race (COMET)
- Long jump forward non-stop, following the arrow signs. They will lead to a pile of blocks that lead to the wooden catwalks of the level "When It Rains, It Pours".
- Hop your way up the blocks. Use buffers only if you miss the ledge (or else the Cosmic Bro. will catch up).
- Do not bother negotiating the catwalk maze. Instead, make a long jump straight across the gap and then long jump all the way to the star.
