Through the Poison Swamp
- Do not fall into the swamp water ever on this level. Explore to the right and get in a bubble from a the bubble blower.
- You must guide the bubble Mario is riding in around the area to find 5 star chips. To do so, aim the cursor at the bubble and press the A button to push the bubble in the direction you wish to go.
- From the bubble blower, follow the wall to the left and around the corner. The first star chip will be floating around this area (wait for it to appear if need be).
- Next, push the bubble into the wind tunnels and follow them along. Grab the ? Coin as you progress to create a trail of coins. Follow the coin trail to a star chip.
- Star chip #3 will be floating in this area. Grab it, then follow the left-hand wall to another wind tunnel set.
- You want to push the bubble as hard as you can through the wind tunnels so that it goes straight to the left and not into the fans. A star chip will be past them.
- Star chip #5 will be just beyond, behind a floating mine. Grab it, then turn around and float to the Launch Star on the island nearby.
- Next area: another bubble course. Hop in the bubble and follow the coin trail to the log.
- Float into the crevices of the log and let it turn you into a wind tunnel.
- Follow the wind tunnel to an area with rotating walls. Navigate through them to an island with a blue switch.
- Ground pound the switch and quickly get in another bubble. Follow the path to the open wooden door.
- Keep going diagonally down and to the left to a passage with a coin trail. Follow the trail, weaving through the mines. The star will finally be at the end of this passage, on an island.

The Floating Fortress
- Dive into the water and search for a cannon shooting Torpedo Teds (underwater Bullet Bills). Lure the torpedo to a glass cage suspended on a hook.
- Blowing up the cage will lower the platforms on the center tower for Mario to reach. Look for a chimney to wall jump, and follow the path upwards (watch out for obstacles that will knock you off the tower.
- Run to the left, taking out the octopi spitting rocks. Carefully navigate past the Thwomps and keep moving all the way to a green valve handle at the end of your path.
- Stand on the valve handle and spin attack to close it. A green Topman will appear. He functions as a springboard to the next area.
- Lure the Topman to the painted circle on the ground nearby and bounce up to the blue screw. Screw it in with a spin attack. This will turn off the bubble blowers and start the rotating platforms above.
- Get on the rotating platforms and search for 5 blue star chips. The first one will be right in front of you. The second on top of one of the Thwomps. The third is on a ledge with a Goomba. The fourth is further up the tower, on an isolated ledge. The fifth is above the peak of the tower; use the green spring droid to reach it.
- The pull star will appear right near the fifth star chip; use it to reach the planet above.
- Run to the other side of the planet and unscrew the gold bolt with a spin attack. Swim into the water orb to grab the star.
-
The Secret of Buoy Base (Green Star)
- Leap into the water again and swim to the cannon shooting Torpedo Teds. Get a torpedo to blow up the nearby glass cage containing a warp pipe.
- Take the pipe and in the next area run quickly down the path to avoid getting blown away by Bullet Bills.
- Your goal is to lure a Bullet Bill into the glass cage behind the cannons, encircled by orbiting electrodes. It's best to lead a Bullet Bill around an electrode on Mario's right hand side. Grab the green star after this is done.
-
Giant Eel Outbreak
- This level is unlocked by completing "Sunken Treasure" in Beach Bowl Galaxy. A Hungry Luma will appear outside the Terrace; feed him 600 Star Bits to create the Launch Star.
- The goal is to kill the three giant eels in the deep using Koopa shells. Grab the green shell at the start and dive into the water.
- Search underwater for a red shell, and switch to that shell. Ride the shell until you find an eel, then throw the shell. It will home in on an eel and kill it. Careful to not throw the shell when there are Torpedo Teds and other enemies about.
- When all three eels are defeated, the star will appear on the deck of the sunken ship.
-
Sinking the Airships
- Take out the octopi and use the cannon on the stern. Aim for the flagpole.
- Run past the Magikoopas and laser droids and get into another cannon. Launch to the next flagpole.
- Take out the Wigglers by ground pounding and then stomping their heads, then buy a Life Mushroom from the blue Luma. The green valve handle has star bits if you need some.
- Cross the gangplank and hit the blue lever. The air skiff will charge forward into a hail of cannonballs and Scuttle Bugs. If you have spare star bits, shoot down the cannonballs; otherwise, buffer jump over them (jump high and use a spin attack in the air).
- For the three Scuttle Bugs at the end of the ride, you must spin attack through them. Afterward, disembark and use the sling star to reach the boss.
- BOSS: Bowser Jr.
- You must grab the Koopa shells and hurl them at Bowser Jr's airship while dodging cannonballs and Bullet Bills. Hitting any part of the ship will do.
- Three hits will provoke Bowser Jr. to turn the bow towards Mario and shoot fireballs. Take out the Magikoopa first before hitting him with two more shells to destroy his craft. Take the Grand Star.
THE BEDROOM
- Getting the Grand Star from "Bowser Jr's Airship Armada" will grant you access to a new hub: the Bedroom. The Bedroom is to the east of The Fountain, its exterior resembling a canopy bed. Your ultimate goal is the Grand Star in Bowser's Dark Matter Reactor.
Bunnies In The Wind
- Run to the big flowers and spin attack; you must ride the flower to the next island. Guide the flower through the breeze and spin attack to keep the flower in the wind tunnel. Remember, the flower will run out of petals after the third spin, so measure your spin attacks accordingly.
- Use the flowers here to ride to the next island. The two ? Coins will create star bits. The second ? Coin can be gained by rising high enough quickly with the flower as you cross the void.
- Take out the Piranha Plants and ride the flowers to the next island. The ? Coin hear will create star bits if you float high enough to reach it.
- On the next island, defeat the Piranha Plant on the right. Ride the vine to the next island.
- Defeat the Piranha Plant here and ride the vine to the next island. Look for another vine underneath the new island and ride it.
- At the next island, defeat the purple Piranha Plant by tricking it to slam its head down, then stomp its head. Use the Launch Star.
- Next area: you must catch the bunny rynning through the hedge maze. Keep an eye out for the beam of light it radiates, so you can keep tracking it even if it runs out of sight. When you catch the bunny, you will get a star.
The Dirty Tricks of Major Burrows
- Ride the flowers again to the island ahead. Collect the ? Coins if you like for bonuses
- Ride the flowers here to a planet with a Monty Mole.
- The mole is burrowing through the earth; ground pound near its location, then defeat it with a spin attack. Use the sling star.
- Explore the question mark-shaped planetoid for three Monty Moles. Defeat them and then use the Launch Star.
- You will land on giant floating apples. Search for corks on each apple and ground pound them; a caterpillar will appear to create a bridge to the next apple.
- At the last apple, the one with the boulders, ground pound all the corks until the caterpillar's head appears, giving you enough reach to get the Launch Star.
- Next area: Pound the corks in until one gives a Life Mushroom, then use the Launch Star to go to the boss.
- BOSS: Major Burrows
- Damage Major Burrows just like any other Monty Mole (ground pound near him, then spin attack). He will dive down into the ground again.
- This time he will pursue Mario. Run away from him until he pulls himself halfway out of the ground. When he does, ground pound the area near him and hit him with a spin attack before he escapes. If you ground pound too soon, he will not be affected.
- Repeat this pattern to defeat him. Note that this time, he will retreat underground after the first ground pound. Do not be deterred; just perform a second ground pound when he returns out of the ground, then spin attack him.
Gusty Garden's Gravity Scramble
- Use the flowers to travel to the next island. You must time your spins on the floating flowers so that Mario is pushed as far along the breeze as possible without sinking out of it.
- On the next island, kill the Piranha Plant and use his vine.
- Kill another Piranha Plant and use his vine to reach the Launch Star. You will grab a Starman as you do so.
- Next area: you must run forward through all the obstacles while still invulnerable. Jump over the spiky plants as they will just slow you down. Use the Launch Star at the end.
- Next area: you must find 5 Star Chips on the tops. Go underneath the top you start on for a chip.
- The next chip should be in plain sight on the next top.
- Go underneath this top and climb the pole for a star chip.
- Jump to the next top (a green one) and look for a star chip spinning amongst the yellow star bits.
- Climb on the pole below for the last star chip and launch off.
- Next area: Mario is on a series of blocks with adjustable gravity. Move foward and grab the 1-up.
- Avoid the cannonballs and spin attack the pointer. Gravity will change and Mario will be hurled to a new set of blocks. Always make sure to defeat any Goombas near by first before toggling the gravity, as they will fall along with Mario, possibly crashing into him.
- Move forward and watch out for the spinning blocks; you cannot step on any darkened portion of the block or you will be thrown off. Hit the pointer to move to a new block set.
- Run forward and avoid the moving blocks. It is possible to get the Life Mushroom by riding one of the moving blocks, but it is not necessary. Hit the pointer.
- Run down to the cylinder below and hit the pointer to be thrown over to another cylinder.
- Mario must now run through a cannonball gantlet. There are too many to shoot with star bits or freeze in place with player 2; instead, use the safe areas (the middle of the blocks, right on top of the exclamation points). If there are Goombas in your way, shoot them with star bits until they fall off the platform.
- At the turn is another gantlet. Again, stay in the middle. Past this gantlet is the star, trapped in crystal. Break the crystal and grab it.
The Golden Chomp
- Select the level "Gusty Garden's Gravity Scramble".
- Play through the level until you get the Starman and launch on the Launch Star while still invulnerable.
- When you land on the area with the rolling boulders and spike planets, quickly run forward to the end and look for a golden Chomp. He should be right near the Launch Star. Crash into him while you are still invulnerable to get a star.
Major Burrows' Daredevil Run (Comet)
- You will have to fight the Major Burrows boss again and defeat him without taking damage. Do not forget that it will take two ground pounds to stun him on the third and final wave.
Soaring On Desert Winds
- The shifting quicksands throughout Dusty Dune Galaxy are instantly fatal. Do not fall in. Also note the skeleton Koopas (Dry Bones). They can be defeated temporalily but will always eventually regenerate. The only permanent way to defeat them is to lure them into quicksand. Finally, the tornadoes here can launch Mario into the air to glide about (shake the Wiimote to use them); be careful using them as Mario, as he descends much faster than he gains distance.
- Use the tornadoes you see to launch to an island with more tornadoes. Use these tornadoes to launch to a green warp pipe in the distance (catch the tornado in the quicksand if it looks like you will not make the distance).
- In the next area, hug the right wall and ground pound. This ensures Mario lands on a ledge that leads to a shortcut.
- Wait for a Thwomp to rise before leaping the gap. Wait for all three Thwomps in the next section to rise before running forward. Grab the Life Mushroom and drop down.
- Hit the two blue switches to gain a horde of star bits. Use the wheels the star bits spawn on to cross the quicksand gap.
- Jump against the flowing sand hill but do NOT break the bricks. Instead, use them to reach a ? Coin, which will spawn a Fire Flower.
- As Fire Mario, surf down the flowing sand hill on the other side, shooting any Piranha Plants in the way (shake the Wiimote to throw fireballs).
- After the Piranha Plants, Mario will be chased by a boulder. Simply keep moving and use the sling star at the end. Grab the star bits on the way out.
- Use the Launch star to a new area. Take out the flying chickens by shooting them with star bits, then spin attacking them (they will be a pest, otherwise). Use the tornadoes to launch up to the next level.
- The next level has flowing sands; leap against them to keep from getting hurled off the tower. Use the tornado to keep climbing upwards.
- On the next level, you must use backflips to climb up the blocks. Use the tornado just past them on the right to get launched upwards.
- Grab the ? Coin while Mario is launched and use the sling star on the right. Land on the ledge where the next ? Coin is. Grab it; it will reveal a trail of star bits to follow.
- Follow the star bit trail by wall jumping. Grab the next ? Coin to create a new trail of star bits to follow.
- Continue wall jumping up till you reach the top, then grab the ? Coin. Slide down the wall, wall jumping when the star bit trails demonstrate to. When you past the overhang, wall jump and buffer your jump into the ledge with the coin.
- Wall jump upwards to the top, then cross the gap using the brown blocks quickly as they will retract into the wall when stepped on.
- At the top of the tower is a river of fast moving sand. Use buffered jumps to cross the sand and reach the crystal with the star. Smash and grab it.
Blasting Through the Sand.
- Jump to the nearby arena. Spin attack the Pokey heads that attack. A red Pokey will appear next; jump and spin attack his face, and take the Launch Star that appears.
- Next area: Move left and jump onto the ring-shaped rock formation (avoid the boulders). From there, jump to the sling star and use it, then use a second star when Mario passes by it in mid-air.
- Next area: follow the flow of the sand to the sling star.
- You must now find 5 star chips on the ring-like structure composed of flowing sand. The first star chip is near where you first landed. Catch the next two chips floating in the flowing sand before grabbing the fourth in a crystal. Finally, get the Koopa shell past the crystal and use it on the treasure chest on the small island to get the fifth star chip.
- Pull stars will appear near the chest; use them to cross the void.
- Take the path marked by the orange arrow, it will be the easier one. Use long jumps to cross the procession of moving platforms and take the Launch Star.
- Next area: run down the hole using the coin trail. The Tweesters (the tornadoes with eyeballs) will damage you if you entered them from the sides.
- Follow the stone path along the quicksand. It is highly advisable to use long jumps to shortcut across the turns in the stone path. If you elect to stay on the path, then move very slowly, and lure any Dry Bones in your way into quicksand.
- The path ends into another hole that leads to the other side of this area. There are two paths; take the right one, but make note of the left (where the Star is located).
- On the right path, you MUST make long jumps to shortcut around the Tweesters. Buffer and air brake your jumps if need be. You MUST also take time out to trick the Dry Bones into quicksand, so that they do not harass you later. Your goal is another hole on the far side.
- In the next area, carefully make your way past the Tweesters and climb the structure.
- You must hurry for the last bit. Ground pound the blue button. You now must run back to the fork you encountered in front of the second hole and take the left path. A structure will have been created by depressing the blue switch that allows access to the star; however you will not make it in time unless you long jump you way across.
- Long jump your way past the Tweesters (you should have gotten rid of the Dry Bones prior), and at the fork go down the left path and long jump your way to the structure. Climb up quickly using the ledge on the right.
Treasure of the Pyramid (Green Star)
- Select the "Blasting Through the Sand" level.
- Defeat all the Pokeys as usual and make sure to collect all the star bits. Use the Launch Star.
- Underneath the platform you land on is a Hungry Luma. Feed him 20 star bits and launch off.
- Next area: the interior of a pyramid with shifting sands. The shifts occur when you stand on a green-colored strip on the walls. You must find 5 silver stars here.
- Break the crystal right where you land for the first silver star, then run up the ramp to the left of it and touch the green strip.
- The sand will shift upwards. Look out for another crystal with a silver star and break it.
- After the second silver star, run to the right quickly when there's an opening and break the crystal in front of the three crates for a silver star. Then follow the sands up to the ceiling.
- Use the ramp on the far right to send the sand back down; you should just make out a crystal in the sand on this ramp. Break it to get the silver star, and follow it down.
- Near the bottom is a long coin trail. Use it to reach a tiny niche with a colored strip to avoid getting crushed. Use the strip to re-shift the sand back up.
- Follow the path up and to the right and you will eventually find the last crystal. Break it to free the silver star.
- The sand will be drained from the area. Jump down and collect the star.
Sunbaked Sand Castle
- Ground pound the orange button. Knock down the bomb chicken and spin atack him to get rid of him. Don't miss the Life Mushroom that eventually shows up (it will be on the left). Take the Launch Star when it appears.
- Next area: collect the 5 star chips. Most will be on a tower that appears when you ground pound the blue switch. After considerable time, the tower will lower into the ground again. You can re-raise it with the blue switch at any time.
- Collect the first star chip in the center of the area before raising the tower.
- Collect the second star chip, which should be just behind the lip of one of the tower's edges, at the very top.
- A third star chip will be in a treasure chest on the face of the tower to the right of the face that had Star Chip #2. Use a Koopa shell to open it.
- A fourth star chip will be at the tower's base, protected by a mob of Dry Bones. Spin attack them to bits, then quickly grab the star.
- A fifth star chip will be in a crevice in the tower you will need to wall jump upwards. Search for the crevice at the base, then wall jump up until you find it.
- When all star chips are found, take the Launch Star at the top of the tower.
- Next area: a tiny planetoid with a giant spiky plant and crabs. Spin attack a coconut into the big spiky planet to create a Launch Star. Note that this planetoid tends to expand and shrink, which can get in the way of using the coconuts. Defeat the crabs if they get in the way.
- Next area: a Pokey on a small planetoid with a 1-up. Grab the 1-up and use the sling star below.
- Keep hitting the coconuts here with spin attacks until they fly into the gravity of the planetoid with Pokey on it. Then use the coconut to defeat the Pokey. Use his Launch Star.
- Next area: Mario lands on a giant tower, with the star in it. Drop down to the bottom and ground pound the big crate to get access to the interior.
- Spin attack the crate in your way. When you reach the 1-up, sand will fill into the tower. Use a buffered backflip to get up the ledge quickly, then run quickly down the passages. Spin attack any crate in your way. Avoid long jump as Mario might collide with a wall.
- At the end of the line, wall jump with a buffer out of the tunnels to the platform with the star.
Bullet Bill on Your Back
- Choose the level "Sunbaked Sand Castle".
- Play through the level as normal until you reach the planetoid with the spiky plant. Recall that this planetoid expands and shrinks; when it is fully shrunk, a cork will be visible in the sand.
- Ground pound the cork and a trail of notes will appear. Collect all the notes before time runs out. Kill the enemies here before you star.
- A Launch Star will appear above the planetoid if you collect all the notes. Leap to it when the planetoid expands far enough to reach it.
- Next area: a Bill Blaster belonging to a large tower that rises and sinks like the first one. Ground pound the blue switch to raise the tower.
- While the tower is raised, glass cages will pop out of the ground below. You must guide a Bullet Bill into the cage that has the star. When it shatters, it will land on the tower; you can lower the tower back down with the orange switch.
Sand Blast Speed Run (COMET)
- You have 4 minutes and 30 seconds to finish the "Blasting Through the Sand" level. The level otherwise plays the same.
- It is important you get the blue star chips in order when you come to their area: A) right where you land B) in the sand just past star chip #1 C) in the sand just past star chip #2 D) in the crystal E) grab the Koopa shell and open the treasure chest.
- Thankfully, the final areas will be devoid of enemies, so move quickly through, long jumping all the way. You will have to hit the blue switch again to raise the platforms underneath the star.
