  • The San Francisco 49ers defeated the San Diego Chargers 49-26 in Super Bowl XXIX. The 75th season of the National Football League saw the 49ers become the first team to win five career Super Bowl championships. The game was highlighted by the dominating performance of 49ers quarterback Steve Young. Finally stepping out the large shadow cast by legendary Niners QB Joe Montana, Young went 24 of 36 for 325 yards and Super Bowl record 6 touchdown passes. Young's command performance won him the game's Most Valuable Player award. Jerry Rice caught 10 passes for 149 yards and 3 TD receptions, and running back Ricky Watters also scored 3 times for San Francisco.
  • Ch-ch-ch-changes

    The 1994 season numerous changes throughout the league. The kickoff was moved back from the 35-yard line to the 30-yard line. The two-point conversion was added following touchdowns. And perhaps the biggest change came on television as FOX Sports replaced CBS televising NFC games.
  • Kenny's Three-peat

    His father may have once been the heavyweight champion of the world, but by winning the Super Bowl with the 49ers, Ken Norton Jr. secured a place in NFL history. He joined San Francisco that season after having won the previous two Super Bowls with Dallas, thus making him the first player ever to win three consecutive Super Bowls.
