Super Bowl XLV Pre Game
3:08 - The Pre-Kick show is getting started, the game is getting close to begin.
3:10 - The Steelers are leaving their locker room to enter the field. They look very focused and ready. Few teams have the experience this franchise has.
3:13 - Here come the Packers, they are jazzed. This is one of the youngest teams in the NFL, these guys might be just young enough to not care about the Steelers' experience.
3:20 - Madieu Williams just won the Walter Payton Man of the Year award, he does great work abroad. Well deserved.
3:21 - Lea Michele of Glee fame sings America the Beautiful, with a choir right behind her too!
3:23 - Now Christina Aguilera rocks the National Anthem, and it ends with a jet plane fly over.
3:30 - The 2011 Hall of Fame class is out for the coin toss, Deion Sanders tosses, Green Bay wins the toss! 14 strait years the NFC wins the coin toss!
3:33 - Last side line interviews, here comes kick off!
Super Bowl XLV First Quarter
3:34 - Antonio Brown runs the opening kick off to the 36 yard line, good start for the Steelers.
3:35 - First play of the Super Bowl, screen pass Roethlisberger to Ward for 4 yards.
3:37 - Mendenhall loses those 4 yards on second down followed by a Big Ben incomplete. 3 and out Pittsburgh.
3:37 - Muffed punt recovery! But Green Bay retains possession.
3:40 - Incomplete on 1st down, a run for only a yard on second, Green Bay now faces a 3rd and long and Rogers hits Driver for a long first down!
3:42 - Another 3rd and long for Green Bay, but this time it is from midfield.
3:42 - Deep pass to Jordi Nelson down the sideline. Perfect throw, just went through Nelson's arms. Green Bay punts.
3:46 - Mendenhall showing bursts of speed with a 15 yard gain on first down.
3:47 - Pittsburgh runs the same play again, this time Mendenhall gets 9.
3:49 - After a penalty and a short screen the Steelers have a short 3rd and 2, but they elect to throw down field for an incompletion. Pittsburgh punts.
3:52 - Green Bay has 16 players on IR, including 6 opening day starters. This team has shown real resiliency this season.
3:53 - The Packers go in a heavy formation for 3rd and inches. The rookie Starks bounces it around the corner for the first down.
3:55 - Starks runs for another short first down. Packers take a time out.
3:57 - Lots of celebrities in the boxes tonight, I saw President Bush, Michael Douglas, Catherine Zeta Jones, Ashton Kutcher and John Madden all withen 5 seats of each other.
3:58 - Rogers escapes a sack and drops in a pass for a nice big gain.
4:00 - 3rd and a short 1, Rogers goes over the top to Nelson for a beautiful catch and touchdown! Packers take the lead!
4:04 - Antonio Brown with another nice return, but it is erased by a block in the back penalty.
4:07 - Big Ben throws a bad pass and it is intercepted, brought back by Green Bay for another touchdown!
4:11 - Mendenhall runs hard for a first down at midfield. The Steelers need a consistant drive here to regain some confidence before the game gets out of hand.
4:13 - Roethlisberger dumps it to Mendenhall for short gain after a penalty. Now the Steelers are looking at 3rd and long from midfield.
4:15 - And Big Ben scrambles for 18 yards, giving the Steelers some much needed momentum and a first down, and with that the first quarter ends.
Super Bowl XLV Second Quarter
4:19 - Second quarter gets underway with a run for a loss by Mendenhall.
4:20 - 3rd and 12 for the Steelers as Roethlisberger hits Sanders for a first down. Pittsburgh is on the cusp of the red zone for the first time tonight.
4:22 - Pittsburgh throws it underneath on 3rd and 7, they fail to get a first, but Suisham hits a field goal and the Steelers are on the board.
4:28 - The Steelers are brining the blitz, and they haven't sacked Rogers yet, but he clearly is feeling the pressure.
4:30 - 3rd and 5 and Rogers hits his man, but only for 4 yards. Green Bay punts after a 3 and out.
4:34 - Mendenhall runs hard again for 7, but another penalty on Pittsburgh. A troublesome trend for the Steelers is developing.
4:35 - Roethlisberger hits Wallace for the penalty yards back and more, and Moore takes it the rest of the way. First down Steelers.
4:37 - The Steelers are facing 3rd and 6, and Randel El makes a great catch to give Pittsburgh a first down at midfield!
4:42 - And just when the Steelers were developing some good momentum and confidence Big Ben throws another interception! Packers ball!
4:43 - The Packers pick up the blitz beautifully and Rogers hits Nelson for a big first down in Steelers territory.
4:46 - Rogers with strike to the end zone and Jennings holds on after a huge hit for another Packers TD!
4:49 - The Steelers need to do something fast to right the ship. That 37 yard pass by Big Ben is a good start, but this drive needs to be productive at the end of the half.
4:52 - Woodson might be hurt, no matter how big the lead is that has to be worrisome for Packer fans. Woodson is one of, if not the most important defender on this very good defense.
4:54 - 3rd and 10, Big Ben throws into traffic again, this time he hits his man for the first down.
4:55 - Woodson has gone to the locker room and the Steelers are close to the red zone. They have to take advantage of this right now, or they have a huge mountain to climb in the second half.
4:57 - Hines Ward sets up a first and goal with a great over the middle catch and Big Ben cashes in with a touchdown on the next play. Exactly what the Steelers needed.
4:59 - Green Bay is in no rush and will be happy with an 11 point lead at the half.
Super Bowl XLV Third Quarter
5:30 - The Packers have taken a double digit lead into half time every game in this postseason. Impressive.
5:32 - Woodson is on the sidelines out of pads. Bad news for the Packers, good news for the Steelers.
5:33 - The second penalty for the Packers in this 2nd half opening drive puts the Packers at 2nd and 15, but Nelson gets nearly 10 yards on a reception and Green Bay has a manageable 3rd Down.
5:35 - OH! Jones drops what might have been a touchdown! Green Bay is forced to punt.
5:39 - Mendenhall finds the corner and runs fast for 17 yards. The Steelers are already getting close to the red zone.
5:40 - Roethlisberger with a scramble and a nice pump for a gain of 6, followed by another long run, this time by Redman for a 1st and goal!
5:42 - And Mendenhall comes back in and pounds it into the end zone for a Steelers touchdown! The Steelers come roaring back into this game.
5:46 - The Steelers fans are loud right now, almost like a home game for them now.
5:48 - Pittsburgh finally gets to Rogers and causes a sack. Packers punt. Momentum is black and gold right now.
5:54 - 3rd and short for the Steelers, and Moore turns the corner with a wicked stiff arm for the first down.
5:57 - Ward with a 15 yard catch to give the Steelers a 1st down inside the Packers 30. The absence of Woodson is starting to be felt.
5:58 - 3rd and long, and even though the Packers have the lead, this is an important play for them. Then need to take back some control of this game.
5:59 - Zombo with a huge sack to force a 53 yard field goal attempt that sails wide. The Packers got what they needed.
6:03 - Rogers with all the time in the world finds his man for a big 1st down gain.
6:04 - Steelers use their second time out of the half. They want some time to set up for this huge Packers 3rd down.
6:06 - Pass incomplete from Rogers. Packers punt.
6:08 - Two quick, short gains sets up a 3rd and short for Pittsburgh. Big Ben has a man open, but throws it high. Steelers punt.
6:11 - A great punt and a penalty puts Green Bay deep in their own territory.
6:12 - The Steelers are brining the pressure forcing Rogers into to incompletions. Setting up 3rd and long from their 17.
6:13 - Packers want to challenge the play.
6:17 - The ruling on the field is incomplete pass. The ruling is confirmed. Packers Punt.
6:21 - Mendenhall with another strong run. The 3rd ends with Pittsburgh on the move.
Super Bowl XLV Fourth Quarter
6:24 - Mendenhall has the ball pop out and the Steelers turn the ball over again!
6:26 - Pittsburgh has 3 turnovers in this game to the Packers 0. That is huge in a game this close.
6:28 - Nelson drops another easy ball. This would have been a big gainer.
6:29 - Then Nelson makes up for it with a huge gain al the way to the 2 yard line, 1st and goal Packers!
6:30 - Rogers finds Jennings in the corner for an easy touchdown throw. The Packers now have 21 points off of turnovers.
6:37 - Pittsburgh still has time to make this happen, but this drive has to be solid. Big Ben just threw to Wallace for a first inside Packer territory, good start.
6:39 - Another long completion to Wallace, this one comes on a quick screen to the outside. The Steelers are threatening.
6:41 - After a penalty set the Steelers back, Hines Ward gets most of it back on a big catch and Roethlisberger takes it the rest of the way with a pass to Wallace for a touchdown!
6:44 - Roethlisberger runs the option!?! for a 2 point conversion.
6:49 - Rogers feels the pressure again, although this time he couldn't make 3 people miss and he is brought down for a sack.
6:50 - Huge 3rd down with just over six minutes left in the game just got harder for Green Bay with a false start. 3rd and 10 with a ton on the line.
6:51 - On 3rd and long Rogers lasered the ball down field for a first down at mid field. Then Starks runs for a nice long gain on first to put the ball at the Steeler 30.
6:53 - First and goal for the Packers after a nice gain by Jones. Time is running out on the Steelers who need to hold the Packers to a FG or turnover.
6:55 - With less than 3 minutes to go this 3rd down and goal is basically for the game.
6:56 - Steelers win that battle. Packers get a Field Goal. Sets up for one potential epic drive to finish the game.
7:02 - Big Ben completes to his tight end for a first.
7:03 - Roethlisberger and the offense are taking a lot of time to get these plays off.
7:04 - Fourth down territory... this is the game... incomplete.
7:05 - And with that, the Green Bay Packers are the Super Bowl XLV Champions!
