Sunshine is a 2007 Sci-fi/thriller movie written by Alex Garland and directed by Danny Boyle. Sunshine was Boyle's first sci-fi film; his other notable films include Trainspotting and 28 Days Later.
The Plot
In the year 2057, the sun is dying, and mankind faces extinction. The fate of the world lies with a crew of eight men and women on a mission to reignite the star with a nuclear weapon.
The crew of the "Icarus II" picks up a distress signal from a prior, failed mission the, "Icarus I", on their way to the sun.
The crew must decide whether to veer off course to potentially save them and retrieve their payload, or proceed with the original mission.
