Sunset Blvd. Movie

Director Billy Wilder delivered one of his greatest achievements in 1950's Sunset Blvd., a classic film noir entry starring Gloria Swanson as Norma Desmond, the demented silent film actress whose star has long since dimmed. William Holden plays the down-and-out screenwriter and dysfunctional lover who she enlists to write her comeback role.

The Final Scene

Her fate sealed, Gloria Swanson's Norma Desmond believes the media cameras that have shown up to cover the gruesome events of that evening are actually there to film the big scene from her imagined comeback movie. Viewed as a screen history highlight in most critics' circles.
