Brief Background
Sunny Deol was born in New Delhi, India. His father was the famed actor Dharmendra, so he was no stranger to the Bollywood film industry.Sunny went to England to pursue acting training as well as work in British theater. Upon his return to India, he made his debut film Betaab in 1993. This was followed by moderate success in other films, but he finally broke through to audiences with his performance in Arjun. Following this he began to get steady work as an action hero and romantic lead actor.
He made his debut as a director in 1999 with the film Dillagi, which starred his younger brother Bobby Deol and Urmila Matondkar.
