The 2008 Summer Olympics was broadcast on NBC. The extended time difference between the U.S. and Beijing means that most of the events that were scheduled to take place during the day in Beijing aired simultaneously in the evening in the U.S. For people who miss their favorite sport or if there is an event that doesn't air on television, NBC has joined with Leveno. The companies created a website called "Olympics On The Go" where people can watch events online.

While NBC holds the North American broadcasting rights to the event, the companies Asian Broadcasting Union and ESPN STAR Sports have purchased the rights to transmit the games in most of Asia.African Union of Broadcasting and the South African Broadcasting Corporation Limited transmit in sub-Saharan Africa. Terra owns all broadcast rights, web and television, for the entirety of Latin America.
