Suicidal Tendencies

  • Suicidal Tendencies is a hardcore punk and metal band from Venice Beach, California. Their only constant member has been vocalist Mike Muir. Though the group's best selling album is 1990's [[Lights...Camera...Revolution!]], the band is still identified with the punk anthem "Institutionalized," from their self-titled, 1983 debut album. Suicidal Tendencies began as an outgrowth of the Los Angeles hardcore punk movement, heavily influenced by Black Flag and identified with skater culture, but later work veered toward metal, with elements of funk. Early in the band's career, Muir adopted the trademark of dressing in the traditional style of the Mexican-American "Cholo," mixed with elements of skater fashion.
