Kristen Dalton was crowned Miss USA on April 19, 2009. The event was held in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Planet Hollywood Resort. The program was produced by Donald Trump and hosted by Billy Bush and Nadine Valazquez. The winner of the $202,000 crown also received a scholarship to the New York Film Academy and a salary for the year of her reign.

The Miss USA contestants wore white string bikinis from the Jessica Simpson collection during the 2009 competition. During the week before the even they were also photographed wearing green suits from the same collection.
