  • How Strep Throat Is Spread

Strep throat is spread through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes. You can also contract the bacterium from surfaces such as doorknobs or telephones and transfer them to your nose or mouth. Strep throat can also be spread by sharing eating utensils or drinking glasses with an infected person.
  • Treatment

Treatment for strep throat usually involves antibiotics and pain relievers. Once the treatment begins, the person should start feeling better in a day or two. However, even though symptoms subside, it is still important to finish the antibiotics or a recurrence could result. If a person has not started to feel better after taking antibiotics for 24 to 48 hours, it is recommended that you call your doctor.MayoClinic.com: Strep Throat: Treatments and Drugs
