Steven Schachter is an Emmy Award-winning American filmmaker. His 2007 film, The Deal premiered at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival. The film is a satire based on the 1991 novel by the same name about a struggling film producer on the verge of suicide who gets interrupted by his screenwriter nephew from New Jersey who needs help with his film. The comedy stars William H. Macy, Meg Ryan, and Jason Ritter.
