Steven Damman

  • Steven Damman was abducted in 1955 as a two-year-old toddler.

Nearly 54 years after the disappearance, Michigan man John Barnes came forward in June of 2009, claiming to be Steven Craig Damman.

A DNA test confirmed that John Barnes is not Damman. Barnes stated that the reason he decided to take a DNA test is because he long believed that the people that brought him up weren't his actual parents, and Barnes shared biographical similarities with Damman.http://www.miamiherald.com/news/nation/AP/story/1103829.html

  • Disappearance

On the afternoon of October 31, 1955, Damman's mother, Marilyn Damman, left Damman and his seven-year-old sister, Pamela, outside of the Food Fair supermarket on Front St. in East Meadow, Long Island, while she ran inside. Roughly 10 minutes later, Marilyn Damman exited the store to find both children missing.

Pamela Damman and the carriage that Damman was in was later found one-and-a-half blocks away unharmed. A massive search began, but no traces of the missing boy were ever found.

  • The Boy in the Box

In 1957, investigators in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, found what was called "the boy in the box." Many believed that the body found was that of Damman's, however in 2003, DNA was compared to that of Pamela Damman and proved that there was no relation.
