Kidney Disease
Cojocaru suffers from polycystic kidney disease, a disorder in which non-cancerous cysts form in and around the kidneys. He underwent one kidney transplant in January of 2005 after he lost the use of one kidney completely. That kidney however developed the polyomavirus, a side effect of transplant surgery, and had to be removed. Cojocaru underwent a second transplant in October in 2005, taking a kidney donated by his mother.ET Online: Steven Cojocaru Talks About His Transplant SurgeryFashion Coverage
