Steve Martin, an American comedian, writer, musician and actor, began his professional career as a stand-up comedian in the 1970s. In 2009, Martin reprised his role as the new Inspector Clouseau for Pink Panther 2 and starred alongside Alec Baldwin and Meryl Streep in the comedy It's Complicated. Martin and Baldwin host the Oscars together on March 7, 2010.
Martin had previously hosted the 2001 Oscar ceremony, about which he quipped:
Hosting the Oscars is like making love to a beautiful woman. Even if you do your best to keep things fresh and exciting for three hours, you're still painfully aware that you'll be dumped as soon as a better man comes along."http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/1242902.stm
