Steve Kerr is a retired professional basketball player and current general manager and president of basketball operations for the Phoenix Suns.
NBA Career
Kerr was drafted by the Phoenix Suns in 1988 and was traded to the Cleveland Cavaliers in 1989. He played three seasons in Cleveland and then one more season with the Orlando Magic before signing with the Chicago Bulls in 1993. Kerr became part of the Bulls dynasty that won three NBA Championships from 1996-1998. Kerr even hit a series-clinching shot against the Utah Jazz in the 1997 NBA Finals. Kerr was traded to the San Antonio Spurs in 1998 where he won two more titles in 1999 and 2003. Kerr announced his retirement after the 2003 NBA Finals.
After Playing
After his retirement as a player, Kerr was a broadcast analyst for TNT's NBA coverage, doing commentary along with Marv Albert. Kerr did this until 2007 when he accepted the general manager position for the Phoenix Suns. Kerr also made the trade that sent Shawn Marion to the Miami Heat in exchange for Shaquille O'Neal.
