Steve Kazmierczak killed five people and wounded 18 in a shooting at Northern Illinois University on February 14, 2008. Kazmierczak killed himself after the massacre. In February 2009, the investigation was still ongoing. CNN reported they were given access to documents in the case. It was reported that Kazmierczak once wrote a paper titled "No Crazies With Guns," on the topic of gun rights for the mentally ill.
