Steve Fossett disappeared in September 2007, after taking off from Utah on a solo flight through the mountains of Nevada. When Fossett never arrived at his destination, an exhaustive search for the missing aviator followed, but Fossett's body was never found. In 2008, a number of smaller-scale searches for Fossett ensued, including one led by a 28-member team in Nevada.
