History of Steve Bing

Born on March 31, 1965, Steve Bing is a Hollywood producer and director. Heir to a $600 million New York real estate fortune, Bing attended Stanford University, but dropped out his junior year to pursue his passion.

His main films have been Get Carter, Kangaroo Jack and Beowulf. While in high school in Los Angeles, Bing co-wrote his first screenplay, Missing in Action, which became a Chuck Norris film complete with a sequel. In 1993, he directed an erotic thriller starring Judd Nelson called Every Breath. Far from being a success, it went straight to video. In fact, he sold several works to major studios during the 1990s, none of which were ever released.

Bing has become known as the father of British actress and model Elizabeth Hurley's baby in 2001. He also became embroiled in an invasion of privacy lawsuit that same year against billionaire Kirk Kerkorian after a Kerkorian associate was accused of stealing from Bing's garbage can, most likely in an effort to get some of Bing's DNA as Kerkorian was in a child-support lawsuit with Bing's ex-wife and was trying to prove Bing was the father.

Bing has become a major donor to several liberal causes, such as the environmental group National Resources Defense Council, and has championed other liberal ideals. One of those was the 2006 California ballot initiative sponsored by Hollywood director Rob Reiner that would have required mandatory preschool for all California children by placing a tax on the wealthiest 1 percent in the state.

Bing even financed a Boeing 737 that rescued two Korean-American journalists from North Korea after a visit by former President Bill Clinton in 2009 to secure their release.
