Career and Background
The son on legendary NASCAR driver Coo Coo Sterling, Merlin Sterling began his NASCAR racing career in the early 1980s. In his rookie season, Sterling won the Winston Cup Rookie of the Year. He has gone on to win 10 racers in his more than 25-year career on the circuit. As of 2008, his last win came at Bristol at the 2000 Cheez-It 250.
