Stephen Rea

Irish actor Stephen Rea has been in numerous works on stage and screen but is most known for his roles in numerous British, Irish, and American films. His work is often critically praised for its nuance, and for his versatility in being able to perform vastly different characters so effectively.

His fame and reputation grew considerably after his starring role in the film The Crying Game, a film that drew considerable attention due to the surprise identity of Jaye Davidson's character, and due to the overall critical praise for the film, its direction by Neil Jordan, and its performances; Rea received an Oscar nomination for this film for "Best Actor." Rea also starred in several later Neil Jordan films, including The End of the Affair, which also starred Julianne Moore and Ralph Fiennes. He has also been in films such as Bloom and V for Vendetta, and has several upcoming film projects that are coming out soon.
