Stephen Malkmus

  • Musician Stephen Malkmus was the lead singer of the popular '90s indie rock band Pavement. He currently records solo albums with a backing band called The Jicks. His album Real Emotional Trash was released in March of 2008.

    In addition to his work on his own records and with Pavement, Malkmus has been featured in a variety of other bands. He collaborated frequently with The Silver Jews and was a member of that group for a time. He also played with a Sonic Youth side project named Kim's Bedroom in the late 1990s, though an actual studio album was never produced. He was also a founding member of The Crust Brothers, a side project with members of Silkworm that released a live album, Marquee Mark, largely composed of Bob Dylan covers.
