  • White House Correspondents' Dinner

    In April of 2006, Colbert appeared as the featured entertainer at the annual White House Correspondents' Association Dinner, a yearly event bringing together members of the press who report on The White House and White House officials themselves. While the entertainment for the evening is typically light comedy, Colbert performed an incisive, satirical routine aimed at President George W. Bush, who was seated only a few feet away.

    The performance received significant media attention in the coming weeks, and was among the first videos widely distributed and discussed on the YouTube streaming video site.
