Stephanie Edwards

Singer and actress Stephanie Edwards was a contestant on the sixth season of the hit reality singing competition television show American Idol. She was voted off the show by the American public on March 21, 2007 At the time she was voted off the show, she had been in 11^th place.

Earlier in her life, Edwards began singing when she was only a toddler. After taking some more voice lessons, she competed in It's Showtime at the Apollo and many other vocal contests.

On March 30, 2010, the celebrity news and gossip website TMZ reported that Edwards had been arrested the previous night after bring involved in a physical altercation with another woman.http://www.tmz.com/2010/03/30/american-idol-finalist-stephanie-edwards-arrest-girl-fight-mug-shot/ Reportedly, the former Idol contestant was arrested after being spotted by police "fighting in the middle of the street".http://www.tmz.com/2010/03/30/american-idol-finalist-stephanie-edwards-arrest-girl-fight-mug-shot/ The arrest was made in Chatham County, which is located in Savannah, Georgia.

After the police officers broke up the fight between the two women, they apparently were then transferred to a local jail where they were held. The status of the other girl involved in the fight and also arrested is currently unknown. However, Edwards was released relatively soon after arriving to jail and is currently no longer being detained. Edwards sustained some minor injuries as a result of the fight. The extent of these injuries was limited to some scratches across the face and chest areas. She won a ticket to Hollywood week on American Idol, but was the only top 24 contestant that never got television time in audition week. Her performances for "Sweet Thing" and "Dangerously In Love" earned her the favor of the judges, but she was eliminated in 11th place after her rendition of "You Don't Have to Say You Love Me" originally by Dusty Springfield.
