Stephan Miller

  • On April 22, 2008, animal trainer Stephan Miller died in San Bernardino County, California after he was bitten on the neck by a bear he was training.
  • The Incident

    Miller was working at his cousin Randy Miller's Predators in Action facility, which trains animals for films, when the bear lunged at him for no apparent reason. The bear was subdued with pepper spray by two co-workers, and forced into a pen. Emergency workers tried to revive Miller, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • The Bear

    The bear, named Rocky, is a five-year-old grizzly who appeared in the movie Semi-Pro with Will Ferrell. Rocky is a 7.5 foot male, weighing 700 pounds. Rocky's fate has yet to be determined. The state of California and PETA are both investigating the incident.
