Starscream

Starscream is a character in the Transformers universe, and is a member of the villainous Decepticons. He is commonly portrayed as the second-in-command next to Megatron, and is characteristically power-hungry and conniving. Different versions of his character portray him as variably competent to hold any leadership role, although he always strives for one. He is one of few Transformers characters to be featured in nearly every aspect of the franchise, from toys and comics, to movies and cartoons.

In some later storylines, including the Beast Wars cartoon series, Starscream is dead and exists as a ghost. The background to this curious phenomenon is often traced to the 1986 animated movie. Starscream betrays Megatron, leaving his damaged body to die in space. When Megatron returns in the form of Galvatron, he vaporizes Starscream as he attempts to crown himself the new leader of the Decepticons.
