A StarGate is a fictional portal from Stargate The Movie as well as the popular TV Show(s) StarGate SG1, StarGate Atlantis, and StarGate Universe that allows matter to be transported almost instantaneously from one part of the galaxy to another where their is a stargate at the other end utilizing star constellations and a point of origin, users would be required to "dial" a "address" and include their point of origin.
StarGate has also become a popular movie and television franchise currently owned by MGM.
